Greyhound Awareness Week
May 24th - 31st

SEE OUR BLOG FOR FULL DETAILS

Greyhound Awareness Week gives an opportunity for all those concerned about the plight of greyhounds to educate the public about the mass slaughter of dogs caused by the greyhound racing industry.

With a large enough boycott by ordinary people, the industry can be brought to its knees and the suffering and untimely death of thousands of greyhounds prevented.

Street stalls, demos outside greyhound tracks, betting shop pickets and other events will be taking place throughout the country. Anyone who would like to organise an event, please contact Greyhound Action for leaflets, posters, petition forms etc.

Viva!’s new youth campaign So Cute launched this week, the leaflet aims to inform young people about the cruelty of factory farming.

If you want to help us make So Cute a success, there are lots of things you can do. Showing the leaflet to your friends could make a huge difference and save the lives of thousands of animals! Information displays at schools, colleges and libraries have proven very successful in the past at encouraging people to change their diet.

Holding a Viva! stall in your school, college or town centre is a great way to educate the public about factory farming. Viva! can send you lots of posters, stickers and leaflets (all for free) to ensure the stall is a success! All you need is a few friends to help you on the stall, and the confidence to speak bravely to the public about your beliefs.

If you’re a bit too shy to hold a stall, why not write to the letters page of your local newspaper or favourite magazine? You could write about how great it is to be veggie, and how fun it is being involved in campaigns like So Cute. Other young people might read your letter and decided to try being veggie themselves. Every person you encourage to turn veggie, that’s another 11,047 animals you’ve saved - think of the possibilities!
