"The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that… Accept that it’s unknown, and it’s plain sailing. --John Lennon"

Kim's Interests

At the moment, all my hobbies seem to revolve around home improvement. My husband and I just bought our first house in May of 2005, and I am working on repainting and/or refinishing pretty much anything that doesn't move. We bought a 20-year old Jacuzzi hot tub off Craigslist and completely refurbished it - it's awesome. You'll find us on any given weekend morning, drinking our a.m. coffee in the Jacuzzi - hottubbing is the *only* way to start the day! ;-) Jack recently demolished all our old kitchen cabinets and is building new ones from the ground up, from SCRATCH! Doing a great job too, I might add. ;-)
The rest of the time, favorite hobbies include cooking, camping (especially on the beach), bike riding, SCUBA diving and playing paintball. I'm not particularly good at paintball, but it's a ton of fun and a great excuse to run around and act like a little kid for awhile. ;-) I love games -- poker and BUNCO are high on my favorites list. I recently learned to knit, and can't seem to put down the needles. Does anyone need a hat? How about a scarf?? ;-) "Will knit for yarn" is my new motto. I also belong to a great book club and am frequently working on 2-3 books at once. I'm a devoted member of NORML and the Mind Science Foundation.
Here are some favorite links from my personal website...
Personal favorites
Political links
 | | Music | I love music -- just about anything from hard rock, indie, oldies, jazz and blues... my husband has even turned me on to the weird electronic "lounge" music he likes... :-) The only music I really don't care for is country and modern pop. I'm a huge classic rock fan -- the Doors, the Stones, the Beatles, Depeche Mode, George Clinton, Bon Jovi... too many to name. And anything by Weird Al Yankovic -- he rocks! I'm also a big fan of a couple local talents. If you're in or around the San Antonio area, I highly recommend them. ;-)
Skunkweed - These guys are incredible. Catchy original music, funny lyrics and super-talented musicians. Not for the faint of heart or the easily offended. Check out their albums "History of the Beer Bong" and "Chunky Butt Funky."
Chris Boss - Chris is a three-time winner of the San Antonio Guitar Wars and one of the most talented guitarists I've seen. A little something for everyone here. | | Movies | I'm a Netflix junkie. I love comedy (the cornier the better) but have soft spots for sci fi and B-movie horror flicks -- especially anything to do with vampires. Other faves... Dogma, Idiocracy, Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version), Barton Fink, Blazing Saddles, Lord of the Rings, all the Alien movies, Sicko, Fight Club, Best in Show, Spinal Tap, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hudson Hawk, The Matrix, Chicago, Cabaret, The Usual Suspects, The Blues Brothers, Pleasantville, Memento, American Psycho, Four Rooms, Victor Victoria, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ruthless People, The Princess Bride, The Incredibles... I could go on and on. | | Television | We don't do the cable thing, so the only TV I see is at the gym or rented from Netflix. Still love the Simpsons, South Park, Futurama and Sex in the City. Recently have become addicted to Desperate Housewives and Scrubs. :-)
| | Books | Memiors of Cleopatra, My Sister's Keeper, Interview with the Vampire (pretty much any Anne Rice lit prior to her religious rebirth...), Water for Elephants, The Shining, Gone with the Wind, Roots, HARRY POTTER, The God Delusion, Leonardo's Swans, American Psycho, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Brave New World, Clan of the Cave Bear, Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, ALL of Margaret George's books | | Heroes | Richard Dawkins, Wonder Woman

About me:
♥ This super cute layout is from iloveyourspace.com ♥
I'm married with no children except our two fur-babies Tigger and Darwin, who are more than happy to be the babies of the family for now. I've been with my wonderful husband for five years now (married for three) living here in hot hot hot San Antonio. I'm a skeptic, a faux extravert and a bona-fide cat lady. I try to stay active - work out 5 days a week and enjoy a number outdoor of activities. We especially enjoy hiking, bike riding and when it cools off a little, we love camping on the Texas coast. Just pitch a tent near the shoreline, hand me a margarita, and I'm at peace. :-) I got certified in SCUBA a few of years ago, but haven't had the opportunity to use it since my exit dives. Hopefully soon!!

Who I'd like to meet:
"I like to meet people who educate, inspire or entertain me." (that's ripped off of Tom's profile, but I like it). Anyone with a "joie de vivre." And maybe Christain Bale. ;-)
