Colm Meek (piano, organ, synths, samples, drum loops, drum programming, guitars, bass, bizouki, vocals) is an Irish-born composer/producer/arranger with a background in electronic, pop and traditional music. He presently runs a music recording company in Seattle.
Chris Pugh (bass, guitars, vocals) has been writing, singing and playing guitar with bands in the Northwest since his days as founding member of the seminal Olympia music club, The Tropicana. When not playing and recording with Saba, he can be seen playing slide-guitar with Deborah Bartley’s band, Sun May.
Karen Hancock (vocals, loops, samples, guitar) an improvisational composer, musician, lyricist and singer extraordinaire, has influenced many with her innovative use of tape loops, found objects and processing. She can be seen performing solo as Knot Pine Box.
Debrah Bartley (vocals) a prolific songwriter, has long been recording and touring the U.S. as a solo performer. Her wide vocal range and seductive brand of country-folk blended with indi-pop can be appreciated with her new band Sun May.
Sean Horton a.k.a. Nordic Soul (live laptop, turntable) originally from Detroit, is a dj/producer and an intuitive live laptop performer. When not playing music he is usually producing dance-music events and workshops throughout the Northwest.

Bio
Saba was created in 2002 in Seattle by musicians Colm Meek, Chris Pugh and Karen Hancock. Their debut, self-titled album was released a year later on Blatant Records. (blat008) Following a very positive response from a limited radio campaign, the band has included Deborah Bartley (backing vocals ) and Sean Horton (live laptop ) in their transition from the studio to the stage. Saba’s music, once described as “uniquely infectious,” combines elements of house, downbeat, dub and electronica with more traditional forms of vocal folk and underground pop music. Relying on their punk-rock roots in Olympia, Washington, these do-it-yourself composer/producers comfortably combine acoustic, electric and electronic instruments into a natural marriage of sonic imagery and lyrical prose. With their debut release Saba has managed to perk up the ears of many often genre-exclusive listeners, enjoying acceptance onto the play-lists of fans sometimes considered at the opposite end of the musical spectrum. Saba is currently at work writing and recording their second album.......................................

“The couch and I were really getting to know each other and were getting along famously. Then the opening band, Saba, started playing. After 10 minutes of neck craning and futile attempts to see the stage without compromising my leisurely position, I finally gave up and realized that the one time I actually wanted the opening band to suck, they didn't and I got my lazy ass up and watched the band. Saba is a tantalizing multi-gender quintet. The two female vocalists give the songs a layered Frou Frou feel. At times they sounded like a downtempo Jem. They definitely get 10 imaginary points for onstage dancing and 20 bonus points for getting the crowd to dance. And there was a crowd. …”
