Below is a video of the making of a commercial called "Brilliance" (also "Sexy Robot"). First successful application of MoCap technology. It aired during the Super Bowl 1985. The commercial is at the end of the clip. I saw it the first time when I was a teenager, and it reinforced my interest in computers, special effects and science fiction.

About me:

I grew up in a small town in the German state of Bavaria (known for its Octoberfest, Munich, beer, the Neuschwanstein Castle, the Alps), immigrated to the US in 2000 and became a citizen in 2005.
Besides writing and research for writing, movies and TV, I like art, chocolate, biking, hiking, reading, exploring stuff, building stuff, history (especially Byzantium and the Victorian/Edwardian eras), animals, science, technology and, when there's some time left, video games (Portal, GOW, Halo).
These movies inspired me in my childhood to become a screenwriter:
Jean Cocteau's Beauty and The Beast, The Time Machine (1960 version), The Thief of Baghdad (1940 movie version), Wuthering Heights (1939 version), Legend (Ridley Scott's Director's Cut), Fantastic Voyage, Logan's Run, Star Wars (the original first three movies), Forbidden Planet, Tron, The Blade Runner (Director's Cut), Alien
My screenwriting projects are strongly influenced by Alex O'Loughlin (also sometimes credited as O'Lachlan); in him I've found the inspiration I looked for to take my passion for writing to the next level.
Logline for VARANGIAN (inspired by and dedicated to Alex O'Loughlin):
("Edric" character by Sabine, concept art by Maud - Stuffed Kittie)
Out-of-time action adventure about an imperial bodyguard from medieval Byzantium transported to the present, who has to find lost gold, jewels and ancient scientific secrets to prevent them from falling into the hands of ruthless treasure-seekers.
(120 pages. Genres: action/adventure, historical, scifi/fantasy. Rating: PG-13. Available in .pdf, .fdr, .doc, .rtf. I prefer distributing the script electronically, but if required, it's also available on paper.)
The concept of my script is similar to movies like "National Treasure", "Kate and Leopold" or "The Librarian".
Besides pitching VARANGIAN (for more info click here), I'm currently writing two screenplays: SNAKE RIVER (for more info click here) and a romantic comedy. I'm also working on ideas for two biographical movies and a science fiction adventure, and I'm very interested in the horror genre.

In Fall 09, we can see him in the action thriller WHITEOUT, and he is going to be back on CBS as Dr. Andy Yablonski in his new series THREE RIVERS. March 2010, Alex will star with Jennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy THE BACK-UP PLAN.
