Sabira is a very soulful and versatile singer, musician and all around entertainer. She has toured throughout California, the Caribbean, Western Canada, Mexico and Hawaii performing in many styles including Jazz, Worldbeat, New Age, Reggae, Calypso, Soca, Folk, Salsa, Top 40, Oldies, Showtunes, Swing, and Country music. Sabira has appeared in Concerts, Expositions, Cruise Ships, Musicals, Rennaissance Faires, Street Theatre Troupes, Wholistic Celebrations and Benefits. She has been featured on TV shows including a PBS concert special & a spot on P.M. Magazine. Her original music has received airplay on California radio stations (B100, KIFM, KGB & KSDS). Sabira has written, recorded & performed compositions for special events, awareness workshops, meditation tapes & instructional videos. She can also be heard as a studio back-up vocalist on other recordings. Sabira sings and plays lead steel pan in the band Island Fever, and is a free-lance vocalist/instrumentalist as well. She is currently doing research for a book on the history of the steel pan. Sabira is currently at work on a CD of meditation music for DNA activation, and a CD of her original songs.
Sabira has had extensive vocal training including 3 1/2 years with the renowned classical instructor Stewart Brady, and 8 years with Rebecca Drake encompassing the Seth Riggs techniques, as well as various college courses in gospel, chorus, and solo voice.
