Bio
Sabrina y Los Reyes formed in December 2005 with lead vocalist Sabrina Gomez, guitarist Bob Knapp and bassist Jim Hewett. Since then, the trio has augmented their musical collaborative with other equally gifted players from the Pacific Northwest/ Greater Vancouver BC area, and have performed at live music venues, summer concert series, Community Co-op celebrations, wineries, breweries, museums, weddings, fundraisers, cultural festivals, and private parties. Their unique creative direction is a Spanish/English blend of world alternative influenced Latin, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Hip Hop, Calypso, Boleros, Folk, Rock, Acoustic and Ranchera music, known as Latin Fusion. Each musician who plays with them brings their distinctive musical background to the band giving the music its inimitable style. Sabrina is a product of a bilingual background, was born in Southern California and moved to Central Washington in 1976. Since then, she has also lived in Western Washington and Eastern Washington. She played the flute and piano as a child and sang in school and church choirs. Her inspirations are varied and include; Classical Composers, Gospel Singers, Hip Hop, R&B and Folk artists, as well as, Santana, Queensryche, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplan, Bob Dylan, Rodriguez, Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Vicente Fernandez, Selena, Buena Vista Social Club, Celia Cruz, Susana Baca, Lila Downs, Mercedes Sosa, Manu Chao, Rodrigo y Gabriela and all musicians who play and create from their heart and soul. BOB was born in London and played the circuit from Blues to Jazz. He's been involved in countless recording projects over the years and is currently residing in the US of A. playing Latin/Blues/Alternative till his hearts content. Bob is enjoying this new project and always relishes performing with talented musicians. His eclectic tastes have helped him to become very versatile, and a natural born jammer. One of his main inspirations is Jimi Hendrix. JIM was born in Powell River, a small town with a giant paper mill in coastal BC. He has been playing the electric bass since '72 and sez "I like it when they dance." He has played most popular musical styles from the Traditional Jazz of the early 1900's through to the present. His musical focus is on the creation of the sort of rhythmic and tonal intensity that makes dancing involuntary. He says that his most important influences have been the dozens of wonderful, relatively unknown musicians he has had the good fortune to play with. Especially those Vancouverite players, Like Brian Snobelin, Michael Zinti, Larry Volen and others, who encouraged him to begin playing Jazz. In in his wake, there have been many dance floor related injuries that can be attributed to overly enthusiastic appreciation of his groove. Steve Jones and Oscar De La Rosa: Creative forces of nature. Kevin Chryst: Rides his drums like brilliant musical Stallions -

Sounds Like
Sabrina y Los Reyes sounds like: a musical concoction featuring full bodied Latin flavor with Afro-Cuban undertones, a fresh jazzy finish, and world beat effervescence with a reggae garnish. Served on a bed of dance grooves with a side of salsa. Original recipes and selected covers. Tastes so fine....all it needs is a good wine!! .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ...... ..........
