Final Deadline for all entries is August 11th 2009.
Coming October 2009...
Independent filmmakers from Sacramento as well as from around the nation are encouraged to submit their feature length and short films.
We genuinely thank all the talented filmmakers, our generous sponsors, and passionate horror fans who have made the efforts of the Sacramento Horror Film Festival possible. Without your love for horror and your dedication to the festival none of what we have accomplished would have been possible.
The festival director founded the festival with many purposes. This festival is to be used as a platform for the horror filmmaker. We screen more films over fewer days than any other horror film festival thus providing a greater chance for exposure for the horror filmmaker.
We do more than screen a series of films. Organizers have enhanced the film going experience between film programs by inserting genre related live music, performance art, interactive games, costume contests, and comedy acts all hosted by horror host personalities. The Sacramento Horror Film Festival is more than a festival- it is multi-faceted arts and entertainment event.
The SHFF provokes filmmaker creativity by issuing annual film challenges open to all filmmakers across the world. The festival hosts educational workshops in various elements of the filmmaking process in order to educate the novice and experienced filmmaker alike.
It is our mission to promote the independent filmmaker, his/her projects and talent therein, while offering an unique and entertaining cinematic experience to fans of the independent horror genre while further establishing Sacramento as a city of the arts.
The festival chooses to utilize the Historic Colonial Theatre in Sacramento, CA. The Colonial Theatre doors first opened in 1939.
Founded by Tim Meunier in 2007.
The festival director operates the festival with the support of its fellowship of horror fanatics and filmmakers.
The SHFF was acclaimed for being “The Best Place for a Real Horror Show” in the “2008 Best of: Unauthorized” issue of the Sacramento News & Review.
SHFF attitude – “Love Horror.”
Who I'd like to meet: Filmmakers interested in the SHFF hosting their film premiere. Directors, actors, special effect technicians, gaffers, grips, editors, producers interested in producing workshops for the SHFF. Sponsors interested in further exposure. Talented artists and performers who have pieces of work that fit into the SHFF.
