About me:

You can find the most about me by visiting my KeithBarrett Online web site and blog. I'm a technologist (geek) with a love of comedy and a long career as a Software Engineer and Project Manager. My work has ranged from personally creating entire network/computer infrastructures for pharmaceutical companies, to developing software at Red Hat, IBM and The Walt Disney Co.

I've also had minor training in television production, broadcasting, and improvisational comedy. Despite not having any actual talent I once had a live comedy series on community cable, played a dead scientist in the movie "Echoes", and for several years I've been singing in Walt Disney World's Candlelight Processional and with SingLive Orlando. I'm also an early adopter of technology, learning ASL (American Sign language), and volunteer at "Give Kids the World Village". I have a fondness for bad sci-fi and pop culture. If a B/W movie had a rubber mutant monster or giant radioactive insect in it I probably own it on video. :-)

I am married 20 years to an extremely talented artist named Cindy, and we live with the smartest cat in the known universe.

I've decided to hate Twitter (nothing personal), so you're going to have to tell me what you thought of Star Trek the old school way: myspace!

I just got back from seeing it in IMAX. I thought it was pretty damn awesome. I never watched the show, so I can't judge it that way, but as a lay man... wow.

And for the record, I rescind my former complaint regarding the casting of Spock. Mr. Quinto did an incredible job. I only thought of Heroes once or twice, and neither time was his truly his fault. I loved dual-Spock, too. Leonard Nimoy, I think, may be some sort of demigod.

Let's see.. Watchmen. Well, I loved the book... loved the book... and I think the movie was as good as it could have been, given that they were trying to cram such a complex story into 2 1/2 hours. JP and I both felt it might've been better done as a miniseries - maybe do an "episode" per chapter in the book.

I posted a myspace bulletin when I found out about his spot on Colbert. I managed to DVR it. LOVE him. *grins* Even if he did steal the Newberry from the Americans. And write a creepy children's book about murder and ghosts.

The whole Twitter thing has soared over my head, sadly. Do I need an account to read yours? I read Gaiman's on his blog. That makes it easy!
