Music (see the nice big list of some of my CDs...) Guitar Playing (teaching myself - 70s Eko Ranger 6 and Gibson SG Special)
Archery - started doing that and enjoying it
Plenty of other stuff mentioned here and there..
Music
All sorts. Live music is so much better than studio. Never buy bootlegs off eBay. You *will* find someone who will trade it with you, or a place to download it (such as Dime) or someone who will send you it in return for blanks and postage. I have quite a lot myself.
My main music is Bruce Springsteen (Solo and with the E Street Band). I was brought up on his music along with loads of others but as I was pulling myself together towards the end of college I went with mum to see them live in Manchester during the Reunion tour.
I then took a copy of the Live In New York album with me to uni and the thoughts, emotions and energy had me hooked. My other favorite album is Tunnel of Love of which I have an amazing acoustic version compiled from live music from the Devils and Dust tour.
I listen to so much else though, lately I've been getting into Neil Young's music (oohh errr..!). Some of the CDs I have (in no particular order):
Meat Loaf
U2
Nils Lofgren (awesome guitarist and singer/songwriter)
I've got one in the loft somewhere but I have other ways of watching what I want when I want :) Sci-fi, drama, comedy...loads of stuff.
Books
I used to read loads. Now I can read a whole page and when I stop not a single word of it sticks. To make it stick I have to read slowly, over and over again. Bah.
Heroes
All those who do something to help someone else. Even the smallest action which may go unnoticed to those around, not just the people who are somewhere at the time something big happens.
Friend Requests - talk to me first!
If I don't know you, then send me a message. If you can't even be bothered to talk to me can you really be classed as a friend? If I do know you but there's a chance I won't figure out who you are..same. Send a message. It really is that simple.
For those who aren't aware, I've been doing some basic recording with my guitars. Some of it is on my other myspace page, some on my YouTube page but most is on my website. Please have a look and let me know what you think. I'm still struggling lyric wise though..
Quick explanation of the myspace name. I normally use beddo as my online name but someone else has actually got it on myspace. Sad Sac is from the Raggy Dolls and due to being told that my car is the same colour as Sad Sac :)
Me physically
First off I don't like cameras so any photos with me in will have other things as a point of interest
I'm 6'2"
I have joined the ranks of normality and I put a lethal blade to my face to remove the facial fuzz
I have short brown hair, which I just run a set of clippers over every now and then when it gets too long (otherwise I turn into a fuzzball)
My eyes, well they change colour depending on my mood or so I am told. They are blue/green with brown bits sort of splodged in.
I'm right handed but can use both hands for different things when needed
..Yeah I know I ain't nobody's bargain
But hell a little touchup
And a little paint. . ...
Guess the song :)
I hide from the sun too much to get a suntan. I just don't like feeling the sun burning away and sun tan lotion is icky. Pasty people rock! :)
Me as a person
Generally I try to be nice to people. Life's so much easier if you don't give people any reason to feel justified in being a git.
I like helping others. Distracts me from myself and if I can give one ounce of help to someone then great.
I'm a good listener. For some reason people tell me things, sometimes things they've even blocked out of their own memory. They know I won't be judgemental about it and that I won't tell anyone about it.
I'm generally the big kid sat back from a conversation giggling and smirking at all the innuendos in practically everything that people say.
I have also been accused of making one too many 'Dad jokes' though I'm not a Dad and don't plan on being any time soon
I'm very much into music, the emotions and energy that you can get from listening to and playing (or at least attempting to!)
I have some peculiarities. I have a sort of mental barrier to physical contact which can make me feel really uncomfortable with something that I know feels really great, however once that barrier is passed there's nothing like a good hug :)
..I like driving in my car, its not quite a Jaguar.. Guess the band. I drive a mini, there's no other car like it and every one has its own 'personality'. What's more, there is such a community of friends who started off with nothing more in common than the car they drive.
I go Geocaching from time to time. Hunting for hidden treasure in secluded areas that you wouldn't otherwise know existed.
I've actually gotten round to taking up archery and quite enjoy it.
I put this test in however some things I don't agree with and there's always more than one way to answer the questions. I see myself far less materialistic (would give it all up for the right thing). I would disagree with the sexuality thing unless you look at the description. Playing is absolutely awesome but there are limits as to what is acceptable..*shrugs*. Then again its not really relevant for most people :)
I'm a local boy, born (Christiana Hartley before they moved it) and bred (First Hillside, now Birkdale) in Southport.
I'm the middle of three. My elder sister is teaching in South Korea. My little sister is still in high school.
The only other bloke in the house is an old man, our cat Ollie
Mum's family has lot's of history (my uncle has researched back to the 13th Century I think). Plenty of scouse (Crosby/Litherland), some Irish (Dublin) and before that Cornwall (alas our part of the family split off before the Carlyon's got rich and owned a large proportion of the land down there
Dad's family, well they don't talk much. His mum was and his brother is nice but its one of those families.
Most of my friends from college went off to uni and just didn't come back. Berlin..Manchester..Cardiff. At least they're having fun as cities tend to have more things to do.
The Merseyfinity branch of Minifinity are a cracking lot even if they come from Preston, Maghull, St Helens, Warrington blah blah. The other clubs are great in their own respect but most of them seem to be a bunch of mini geeks sat in a pub talking about their cars. Minifinity...well we're just a bunch of mates :)
What I like
Food, proper food none of them weeds that people reckon are good for you. My stomach begs to differ and can protest quite painfully!
Extra thick white chocolate Frijj. Alas they thinned it out and then my body decided it was going to be alergic to cream :(
Music. Decent guitar stuff is awesome, just wish I could play good enough to sack off computers and make a living out of that. I'm not limited to guitar music though, you should see the bizarre selection of CDs that I have collected over the years (or not if you're a psyco)..
Films and decent TV series. Got so many and such a variety (action, sop, drama, comedy, horror, outright bizarre..).
Little things and little people. Cat's small, car's small..I'd rather have a little cottage than a big mansion so small there too. Must be something to do with not being small myself and not knowing what its like..or maybe just small IS cute.
Tea. Nothing like a nice strong pint mug of good old tea (none of this namby pamby flavoured stuff and earl grey..well just the smell of that gives me a headache!)
Hugs, Kisses and the rest ;)
Camping and other outdoor stuff
What I don't like
Arseholes. Metaphorical and literal. Some people think it is okay to treat other people like dirt. Until I saw the kind of effect that can have on people I'd have argued the case that every life should be preserved and people should be given a chance to redeem themselves. Some people don't see themselves doing any wrong let alone even consider redeeming themselves. I'm sure a few hundred thousand volts would cure that.
Pain. Physical and emotional. I can tolerate quite a bit, I have to and I've learnt to live with it. I don't like seeing other people in pain though because I know what it is like. I just wish it was easier to help people out of pain but sometimes it just doesn't work like that.
Alcohol. Anything with even the slightest bit of alcohol in tastes foul. Just the way my taste buds work. Besides, its difficult enough to not cock up your life when you're sober let alone when something is reducing your control.
Smoking. You're not just killing yourself which is stupid enough, you're making everyone else breathe in your poisons. That stuff reeks too. I won't tell anyone to stop smoking though because its up to them. I can't help if it makes me cough though.
People who don't try. Everyone has problems. Some people know how to deal with them better than others. Some people just seem to wallow in their own shit and make a big noise about how bad it smells. If you don't try, people will give up trying to help
People who totter about completely oblivious to the world around them. We all have our own little worlds, but when your out in the real one you really do have to pay attention. These twits are the cause of a lot of car accidents and plenty of other things. Eyes and ears are there for a reason, if you're not going to use them..give them to some poor bugger who can't use their own.
So how many people made it to the end? I'm not talking "skip to the end" as in Spaced, but actually read it all? If you did I hope I didn't bore you too much!
If you did then here's a few music videos instead of some writing for once
This video confused me a little bit at first. This is Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (With a small choir and the Miami Horns that plaid with the band in the late 80s) on stage playing a Bruce Springsteen song (Because the Night). However, Nils Lofgren is leading and the version played is his which I wasn't aware existed in this form until the turn of the century.) In the end I don't care. The audio is a bit off so I prefer the version I linked in my blog but that doesn't have a video showing just how nuts Nils can be on the guitar
This one's a Bruce Video though (some other videos tucked away at the bottom..hehe I said bottom). If you like music, give it a whirl. The song is "Kitty's Back" from 2002 with the E Street Band and La Bamba and the Hub Caps Horn section. Great song with solos all over the place.
Well the video I had here got removed, but I've found that someone just added a better version. The song was written by Carole King and is called "You've Got A Friend". This version is performed by James Taylor although Carole King is playing the keyboard in the background. Still not found the version where they both sing though. McFly did a version which isn't too bad although I don't like the pop voices and that the guitar parts are so quiet.
Bruce Springsteen: Secret Garden - a very moving song for anyone who's had a lover shut them out of their life because they couldn't let them in. The voice over and video are an incredibly sappy interpretation but work quite well:
U2 - Beautiful Day. Some great music but this song in particular will always have a special side to it.
Jackson Browne - Lives In the Balance. Originally written about wars in South America but I don't think it matters where it is sung about. One of those videos you don't want to watch if you want to avoid the war stuff.
Twitterpated. A much more lighthearted Jackson Browne song to bits from Bambi. Isn't Thumper cracking? Kinda sums up the way things go. Find someone you actually like but the chances of them being available are nice and slim, the only one slimmer would be them being interested!
Meat Loaf - Objects In The Rear View Mirror. Simple thought, moving song. We all have things in our past that we won't let ourselves forget. Sometimes the memories can seem as strong as the day it happened.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who's not an arse.
No really, I'm not bothered. I find that girls are more interesting to talk to (they have plenty of other advantages too though but that'll just be the monkey in me).
If you think you might like to talk to me then try it. If it doesn't work out then nothing's lost. If you don't try, nothing's gained.
heheh. Not the noisy ones down clarence road! I'm always very quiet. There is a guy that plays drums pretty much next door tho. Never met him, but heard him on and off for the past 3 years!
hahaha u no i shud.. jst not admitting it hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm aint tht rite princess :-D anyway 4 got sumit on tht comment did u? hmm n i thought u wer learnin well xxxx
Sounds like fun! Looks like I won't make it this weekend (only just read your comment) but I'm up for the camping trip this summer - Nick told me about it.
I'll definitely have to make my way up to Southport the next time I get the chance.
