Formed in January of 2001 by Sado-Stan Dementor (guitar, vocals: ex-Song of Melkor, Wrath Ritual), who soon recruited long-time collaborator, J. Skeletor, to provide drums, bass and production. Dementor was sick of the current "New York Death Metal" scene and, inspired by bands like NunSlaughter, sought to conjure up some primitive, old school death metal. Unable to find other members who shared this vision, Sadomaniac never got to play live, but the duo were able to record everything they wrote, playing all of the instruments between them. Some of these songs appeared on a CD EP in the summer of 2001 (self-released on Sado-Stan's own Rancor Records), and two split 7"s in 2002-3 (Iron Bonehead, Germany). Sadomaniac broke up in the spring of 2003 after recording two new songs, "Cruelty Devils", and "On The Hunt". The latter never received a vocal track, and neither were released, as the focus was drifting too far from the original Sadomaniac concept. Also yet to be released is a 2002 rehearsal tape containing three new songs; "Devotee of Death" (later re-recorded as "Desecration and Debautchery"), "Scorched By Evil", and "Torture Supreme"; and a cover of Death Strike's "Mangled Dehumanization".
There were talks of resuming Sadomaniac in August of 2006, but having played slower, less aggressive styles for the past three years, neither member was able to recall the same level of ferocity in his writing and playing.
This MySpace page, maintained by J. Skeletor, shall serve as the official Sadomaniac archive and memorial until a full website is constructed.
