ABOUT SÆCULUM: "A SÆCULUM is a length of time roughly equal to the potential lifetime of a person or the equivalent of the complete renewal of a human population." SÆCULUM stands for absolute atheism, convince yourself that gods and ghosts do not exist and that religion is nothing more than a collection of fables. Thus we bring you Unadulterated Black Metal in its purest form. The Cleansing is at hand. The world is CONTAMINATED by mankind's most disgusting phenomenon yet: organised religion. .
BIOGRAPHY:
In the Autumn of 2004, SÆCULUM was formed by LASTER, TERGER and LAZARUH in order to inject some highly toxic poison into the veins of the perishing black metal scene.
They rapidly started recording tracks for a setlist of songs, starting with "CONTAMINATION" and "ETHNIC CLEANSING".
They're about our endless aversion towards every existing religion
in the past, nowadays and in the future.
"IMPRECATION" is based on an ancient incantation for transforming into a being, invisible to gods an demons.
"GENETIC FAILURE" is about the greatest flaw in evolutional history.
After that in early 2005, MOLESTRATOR was added to the line up.
"BENIGHTED" was also added to the setlist, so SÆCULUM soon started performing liveshows.
SÆCULUM recorded their first promotional EP called "EXORDIUM" merely a year after its birth.
It contains an Intro and 5 tracks of genuine, aggressive and melodic black metal, with a running time over 27 minutes. It was recorded at Syndicate studio in Breda by Ploert (Brutus)
LAZARUH and LASTER took care of the artwork together.
In order to optimize the first full attacks on stage, SÆCULUM needed a second guitarplayer. Schoft (BRUTUS, SATYRICON) seemed a perfect fit for the job.
In April 2006 Lazaruh decided to depart from SÆCULUM due to difference in musical taste.
SCHOFT picked up the bass and he proved himself worthy during our performances at the Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht and with Marduk at Nighttown. VLERK(BRUTUS) was assigned to be our session guitarplayer, and also he proved to be the right man for the following shows.
A reinforced and improved setlist will form the foundations of the upcoming dark era.
