Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land is a UK charity and the only organisation caring for working and abandoned donkeys in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
Set up in 2000 by Englishwoman Lucy Fensom as a response to the enormous number of mistreated and neglected donkeys she came across during her time working voluntarily at an animal shelter in Jerusalem, today Safe Haven's 4 acre sanctuary near the Israeli town of Netanya is home to over 100 unwanted and abused donkeys.
However, Lucy is aware that these are just a tiny percentage of the donkeys desperately needing help in the region and so the charity's work does not stop at the sanctuary gates. In 2005, Lucy and the team instigated a ground-breaking programme of free veterinary clinics for working donkeys, mules and horse in towns and villages on both sides of the Palestinian border. Such has been the outstanding success of the project that today, the team are working in 14 different towns and villages, giving free veterinary care, headcollars to alleviate the terrible wounds which can be caused by home-made harnessing and, equally importantly, education for the local children on the importance of caring for their animal.

Hi, how're you doing?
The Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary will be on Coast on Sunday, which I shall watch. Did I read somewhere that there's to be a big donkey gathering in Windsor Great Park on July 7th?
I hope all your donkeys are okay!
Have a great day!
