Fire hits Arslanian Bros. rug cleaners Tuesday, May 15, 2007 Patrick O'Donnell and Jesse Tinsley Plain Dealer Reporters A fire Monday night caused heavy damage to Arslanian Bros. Carpet & Rug Cleaning Co. at 10009 Miles Ave. on Cleveland's East Side. The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. It took firefighters about two hours to bring the blaze under control. The building was still smoldering after 11:30 p.m. The fire at Arslanian, which is across from Calvary Cemetery, did not spread to nearby buildings, fire officials Cleveland Fire Department officials had yet to determine the cause of the fire Monday night, and damage estimates were unavailable. It was also unknown whether anyone was injured in the fire. "We are not sure what started it. No idea," said Armen Arslanian, one of three brothers who own the company. "The fire seems to have destroyed records, computers and file cabinets inside," Arslanian said. "It's a total loss." This horrible fire is an example of an unexpected tragedy. Being prepared for the unexpected is the key! If they had photos of their assets it would have helped their insurance company a great deal in knowing exactly what they're assets were, (ie structural, equipment, vehicles,) No one thinks it will happen to them, but it does.
