Roughcuts” is RUSU’s live music night in which we invite local, unsigned or recently signed bands to play on stage in 360 one of the student unions main bars. We have two/three bands & one/two Acoustic Acts play every Friday during the term time and we also have our resident J.11 DJ’s who open and end the night.

Roughcuts is an open night so non-students are welcome. Times:..

Doors open at 20:00 evening ends at 02:00am

Arrival:

We ask the headline band to arrive at the venue for 17:00 and the support to arrive for 17:30 (depending on kit share) for load in and sound checks.

Stage times:

Stage times: The first band will go on stage at 20:15 for a maximum set length of 30 minutes. The second band will go on stage at 21:00 for 30mins Third band will go on for 21.45 and be on between 30 mins Headliners will perform from 22.30 and will play a 30- 45mins set

As the night is free entry to students with a NUS EXTRA and £4 otherwise we do not hold a budget in which to pay the bands for playing but:- All in house advertising, Tech crew, sound engineer and a PA system provided by Sabre International.

Playing at Roughcuts is a great chance for bands to gain student recognition and there is always the possibility of being invited back.

The band may also set up a merchandise stall to promote their band as long as they are not advertising other venues...
