EUSKARA.....2001. urtean, Joxe Ripiau talde mitikoa desegin zenean, Iñigo Muguruzak (gitarra eta ahotsa; lehen Kortatu, Delirium Tremens, Negu Gorriak, Joxe Ripiau) beste talde bat sortu eta bere kaieretan pilatzen ari zitzaizkion ideia eta egonezinei bidea ematea erabaki zuen. Honetarako bat egiten du Karlos Zubikoarekin (baxua; lehen Apurtu) eta Gorka Baskaranekin (bateria; lehen Gatazka, Be quiet), Sagarroi sortuz. Urte horretan bertan, taldearen lehen diska “Meatzaldea” kaleratzen dute Metak diskoetxearekin. Proiektu berria Katalunia, Madril eta Euskal Herriko hainbat herritan aurkeztuz. Lan honekin atzerriko lehen bira egiten du taldeak, diskoa Kuban hainbat kontzertutan jendea aurrera eramanez. 2003an “Euria ari duela” (metak) kaleratzen dute, beraien bigarren diska. Lan honetan Asier Ituartek (tronboi jolea; lehen Eskandalo publiku, Txatanuga Futz Band eta Joxe Ripiau) parte hartzen du eta bere eragina nabaria da. “Meatzalde”-aren hardcore soinu zorrotz eta gordinetatik eragin skatalitiko eta karibearra duten beste soinu bero eta alaiagoetara berezko bira ematen hasten da. Lan hau esku batean eta musika tresnak bestean hartuta, abian jarri eta beraien musika Euskal Herria, Katalunia, Espainia, Frantzia, Suitza, Kroazia, Eslovenia, Serbia eta Italian zehar zuzenean aurkezten dute. “Toulouse” taldearen hirugarren lana, Metak disketxearen eskutik 2004an editatzen da Izenburuak eta azaleko Anthony Quinn aktoaren argazkiak mestizaia plural eta aberatsa gogora ekartzen digute, bai eragin musikaletan, zein abestien hitzetan, zeinak aniztasunaz, bidaiez… mintzo diren. “Toulouse”-n freskotasuna eta kalitatea orekatuak ikusten dira. Dotorezia eta taldearen nortasuna galdu gabe reggae, kunbia, dance hall, guaguanko eta balkaniar soinuek tokia aurkitzen dute lan honetan. Abestien hitzak Iñigo Muruzarenak dira, bizi pozez eta kolorez beteak, batzutan gogor egurtzen gaituen errealitatearekin konpromezua dutenak. Lan honekin taldeak bere ortzmuga zabaltzen du eta bere musika entzulego zabalago batekin elkarbanatzea lortzen du, Alemania eta Suitzan bira luzeak eginez. 2005an, antzerkiaren munduan barneratuz, taldeak ezohiko egitasmo bati ekiten dio. Iñigo Muguruzak, sormen egonezinez, Martxel Mariskal musikari eta idazlearen “Me llamo Ezequiel y así será siempre” eleberria irakurri ondoren intelektualki xaxatua zegoelarik, Antzerkiola Imaginarioa (FTI) eta “PCs de colores”-ekin batera proiektu berri batekin ezustea ematen digu. “Ezekiel” deituriko euskarazko antzezlan musikatua sortu zuten. Zeinak urte bereko Korrika Kulturalaren akzesita merezi izan zuen, bere produkzioa eta Euskal Herri guztian jende aurrean aurkezteko aukera bermatuz. 2006an orain arteko beraien azken lana kaleratu zuten “Baleike”. Diskorik berriena, freskoena. Lehena Bartzelonako Kasba Music diskoetxearekin. Itsasoz bestaldeko diskoa bezala izendatua izan da ska, reggae, kunbia…soinuez betea. Baleiken ahots berri bat aurkituko dugu, Miren Gaztañagarena, taldekide berria berau. Abestien hitzek bizitzaz, borroka eta irribarrearen egin ahalez, koloreez eta gaur eguneko garaien konpromisoez hitz egiten dute. Lan hau itsas portu batean grabatua izaki, kresalez eta sen bidaiari, alai, kontzientez bustia izan zen. Hala taldea urrutiko eszenatokietara eraman du. 2006an “Sagarroi Japan Tour” birarekin Japoniako entzulegoaren aurrean aurkeztu ziren. 2008aren hasiera aldera eta Iban Zugarramurdik baterian eginiko denboraldi labur baina goxo baten ondoren, Iban Larreboure Urruñar gaztea taldean sartzen da, baterijole eta taldekide berri bezala. 2008ko abenduan taldeak orain arteko azken bira “Mockba-tik Moskura” egiten du, Errusiako hiriburuko hainbat aretotan kontzertuak emanez. Sagarroi gaur egun lan berria –“Haikua”izenekoa- izango dena prestatzen ari da, osoki auto produzituko duen lehen lana. CASTELLANO....Allá por el año 2001 tras la disolución del mítico grupo Joxe Ripiau, Iñigo Muguruza (guitarrista y voz; antes en Kortatu, Delirum Tremens, Negu Gorriak, Joxe Ripiau) decide formar otro combo y dar salida a múltiples inquietudes e ideas que se acumulaban en sus cuadernos. Para ello se junta con Karlos Zubikoa (bajista, antes en Apurtu) y Gorka Baskaran (batería, antes en Gatazka y Be quiet) y forman Sagarroi. Ese mismo año publican “Meatzaldea” (zona minera) con la discográfica Metak, presentado el proyecto en innumerables pueblos de Euskal Herria, Cataluña y Madrid. Realizan también su primer tour, presentando el disco en Cuba. En el 2003 ve la luz su segundo trabajo “Euria ari duela” (Metak) ya con la participación del trombonista Asier Ituarte (antes en Eskandalo publiku, Txatanuga Futz Band y Joxe Ripiau) que pasa a formar parte del grupo. En este trabajo se empieza a apreciar el giro natural de la banda desde la crudeza sonora del hardcore de “Meatzaldea” a sonidos más calidos y luminosos con influencias skatalíticas y caribeñas. Con este disco en una mano y los instrumentos en la otra Sagarroi se echa a la carretera y presenta su música por Euskal Herria, Cataluña, España, Francia, Suiza, Croacia, Eslovenia, Serbia e Italia. “Toulouse” el tercer trabajo de la banda se edita en el 2004, también de la mano de Metak. Tanto el título como la foto de Anthony Quinn en la portada nos remiten al mestizaje más plural, tanto en experiencias e influencias musicales, como en letras que hablan de viajes, diversidad, etc. En este álbum de Sagarroi vemos equilibrados calidad y frescura. El reggae, ska, cumbia, dance hall, guaguancó y los sonidos balcánicos tienen su sitio en “Toulouse”, sin perder la elegancia y la identidad de la banda. Las letras son de Iñigo Muguruza, vitalistas y coloristas, comprometidas con la realidad que a veces nos golpea implacable. Con este trabajo la banda amplia sus horizontes y consigue compartir su música con un público más amplio, realizando tour-s por Alemania, Suiza… En el 2005 la banda lleva a cabo un proyecto extraordinario, adentrándose en el mundo del teatro. Iñigo Muguruza, inquieto como siempre, intelectualmente excitado tras la lectura de “Me llamo Ezequiel y así será siempre” del músico y escritor Martxel Mariscal, decide sorprendernos con un nuevo proyecto, junto a la fábrica de teatro imaginario (FTI) y PCs de colores. Se trata de una obra teatral musicada en euskara, a la que titularon “Ezekiel”. Este trabajo obtuvo el accésit de la “Korrika Kulturala” del 2005 posibilitando su producción y divulgación por toda Euskal Herria. En el 2006 ve la luz el hasta ahora último trabajo de Sagarroi “Baleike” (es posible), el disco más reciente, el más fresco. El primero con el sello Kasba music (Barcelona). Descrito como un disco de ultramar, lleno de ska, reggae, cumbia… En Baleike encontraremos una novedosa voz, Miren Gaztañaga, nueva componente del grupo. Las letras están escritas por Iñigo Muguruza, letras que hablan de la vida, llenas de color y comprometidas con los tiempos actuales, dándonos una sacudida eléctrica a veces. Este disco, grabado en el puerto de Ondarroa (Estudio Santos) que lo impregnó de salitre, con un espíritu viajero, alegre y consciente, llevó a la banda hasta escenarios nipones, compartiendo sus canciones con el público japonés en la “Sagarroi Japan Tour 2006”. A comienzos del 2008, tras el corto pero dulce paso de Iban Zugarramurdi a la batería, se incorpora definitivamente Iban Larreboure como nuevo batería y componente del grupo. En diciembre del 2008 Sagarroi realiza su -hasta la fecha- úlltimo tour, bautizado por la banda como “Mockba-tik Moskura” que les llevo a actuar en varias salas de la capital Rusa. Actualmente Sagarroi está inmerso en la gestación del que será su próximo trabajo, que llevará el título “Haikua” y será totalmente auto-producido por la banda. ENGLISH....It was around 2001 when, after the dissolution of the mythical group Joxe Ripiau, Iñigo Muguruza (guitarist and vocals, ex-Kortatu, Delirium Tremens, Negu Gorriak, and Joxe Ripiau) decided to form a new band so as to give vent to many ideas he had piled up in his notebooks. Thus, Karlos Zubikoa (Bassist, ex-Apurtu) and Gorka Baskaran (Drummer, ex-Gatazka and Be Quiet) join the group and form Sagarroi. That very same year, they publish Meatzaldea (“Mine area”) with the record company Metak, presenting their project in a great deal of towns through the whole Basque Country, Catalonia, and Madrid. They go on tour for the first time as well, and perform in Cuba. In 2003, their second work is born, “Euria Ari Duela” (It’s Raining) with Metak, once the trombonist Asier Ituarte (ex-Eskandalo Publiku,Txatanuga Futz Band, and Joxe Ripiau) has joined the group. In this work, the natural twist is clearly appreciated, from raw hardcore sounds in “Meatzaldea” to warmer and more shining sounds, influenced by Caribbean music. With the disc in one hand and the instruments in the other, Sagarroi jumps into the road and presents its music through the Basque Country, Catalonia, Spain, France, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Italy. The third work of the group, “Toulouse”, is edited in 2004, with Metak once again. The title, as well as Anthony Quinn’s picture on the cover, shows us the most plural crossbreeding both in experiences and musical influences, and in lyrics, too, which deal with travels, diversity, etc. In this album we can see quality and coolness well-balanced. Reggae, ska, cumbia, dance hall, guaguanco and Balkan sounds mingle in Toulouse, still preserving the smartness and the identity of the band. The lyrics by Iñigo Muguruza are colourful and full of life, and always committed to reality, which sometimes beats us relentlessly. With this work, the band opens up new horizons and gets to share its music with a wider audience in tours throughout Germany, Switzerland… In 2005 the band carries out an outstanding project, going into the world of theatre. Iñigo Muguruza, restless as ever, intellectually excited because of the reading of “Me llamo Ezequiel y así sera siempre” (my name is Ezequiel and that will always be so), by the musician and writer Martxel Mariscal, surprises us with a new project alongside Fábrica de Teatro Imaginario (FTI) and PCs de Colores. It is a play set to music in Basque entitled “Ezekiel”. This work got a prize in the “Korrika Kulturala” in 2005, making its production and spreading throughout the Basque Country possible. In 2006, “Baleike” (it is possible) is released, the last work by Sagarroi up to now. It is the most recent disc, the coolest one, and the first with the label Kasba Music (Barcelona). It has been described as an overseas record, full of ska, reggae, cumbia…In Baleike we can hear a new voice; Miren Gaztañaga, the new member of the group. Iñigo Muguruza is the author of the lyrics once again, which tell us about life, about the possibility to smile and fight, full of colour and committed to the current times, sometimes making us feel an electric shock. This disc was recorded at a seaport, which impregnated it with saltpetre, with a travelling spirit, joyful and conscious of the fact that they had reached Japanese stages, sharing its songs with the Japanese audience in the “Sagarroi Japan Tour 2006”.

Kontzertu kutunez beteriko hamarkada oso bat izan da, Euskal Herria, Catalunya, Galizia, Madril, Alemania, Cuba, Francia, Suitza, Croazia, Eslovenia, Serbia, Italia, Errusia eta Japongo eszenatokietan. Garai horretan bost disko grabatu eta argitaratu ditugu: “Meatzaldea”( Metak 2001), “Euria ari duela” (Metak 2003), “Toulouse”(Metak, 2004), “Baleike” (Kasba music, 2006) eta “Haikua” (autoproduzitua, 2008). Martxel Mariskalen liburuan oinarritua, ekoiztu eta zuzendu genuen “Ezekiel” antzezlan musikatua, baita Korrika Kulturalaren akzesita lortu. Kultur ekintza hau Euskalherriko antzokietan eszenaratu genuen, FTI eta Peces de Colores kolektiboekin batera. Bereziki eskertu nahiko genuke ibilbide honetan lagundu gaituzuen guztioi, eta ez dugu izenik aipatuko: asko zarete eta norbait ahaztuko genuke seguruena. During this time, we have had the pleasure of performing in Basque Country, Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid, Germany, Cuba, France, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, Russia, Japan… Since we have started, we have brought out five albums: “Meatzaldea” (Meak 2001), “Euria ari duela” (Metak 2003), “Toulouse” (Metak, 2004), “Baleike” (Kasba music,2006) and “Haikua” (auto-published, 2008). We also took part in a musical theater called Ezekiel, which was based on the book “Me llamo Ezequiel y así sera siempre” written by Martxel Mariscal, with “Fabrica de Teatro Imaginario y Peces de Colores” theatre company. I would like to thank all the people who have accompanied us in the course of our career. We don’t want to mention manes because we are sure of we would leave somebody out of the name list.
