to summarise: good shit.
Saiful Idris started djing when he moved to London in the summer of 2000. Inspired early on by Zouk resident Aldrins then-Friday night sets, his early music comprised largely the deep, tech and tribal house championed by the likes of Aldrin, Layo & Bushwacka!, Peace Division, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Tom Middleton, Marcelo Castelli, Chus & Ceballos, Futureshock and so on. Over the years, his repertoire has expanded to include the deeper and more soulful side of house, broken beats and nujazz, with djs and producers like Masters at Work, Matthias Heilbronn, Danny Krivit, Blaze, Giles Peterson, Osunlade, Spiritual South and so on providing massive inspiration.
In London, Saiful played at a number of different venues, to very different audiences. Highlights include an appearance at the Ministry of Sound in December 2001, as one of eight London finalists in the Red Dexnfx DJ Competition, as well as successful nights of his own at Bar Alchemy and the Red Gate Gallery. Since his return to Singapore in July 2004, Saiful has already brought his versatility and wide spectrum of sound to audiences at Rouge, Liberte, DXO, Cocco Latte, the Singapore Art Museum and Home. He also came in third in the Juice DJ Quest competition in 2005, and second this year.
Alongside djing, Saiful has begun dabbling in production, with two original productions already added to his extensive repertoire. He is also guitarist and vocalist for the Great Spy Experiment.
