Saigneur naît à l’hiver 2002, d'un projet solo electro-accoustique appelé IN2DEEP. En plus de Sam, Yan, Nick et Geff, le groupe compte à ses rangs un deuxième guitariste, J-F Martel (de Burn Unit). Le nom de départ est Saturation, mais on constate éventuellement, tombant sur un vieux vinyl, que ce nom avait déjà été pris auparavant. L’idée derrière Saturation, et maintenant Saigneur, est de forger un métal intense, violent et intelligent, et le tout avec des paroles en français, à l’image de notre province et des québécois que nous sommes. En 2004, au départ de JF, Saturation devient officiellement Saigneur et se prépare à enregistrer avec les nouveaux instruments baritons de Sam et Nick ( bass 6 cordes et guit 7 cordes). Ils avaient auparavant enregistré deux démos maison mais restaient assez insatisfaits des résultats. Saigneur fait donc appel à JF Fortin ( guitariste de Anonymus ) qui fait une méchante bonne job pour enregistrer les pièces! Une fois l'enregistrement terminé, et après quelques spectacles, Sam quitta le groupe, JF reviens à la charge, mais cette fois, à la basse. Toutefois, le EP Saturation sort en octobre 2007, 2ans après son enregistrement. Et l'histoire se poursuit...

Saigneur started out as "Saturation" in the winter of 2002 with Yan, Nick, Geff and Sam. Back then, they played with a 2nd guitarist, Burn Unit axeman JF Martel. The idea of "Saturation" was to provide intense, violent, intelligent metal music, with french (qubecois) lyrics. In fact, some of the songs came from Nick's solo project called "in2Deep". JF left the band in the summer of 2004. At that point, Sam & Nick decided to experiment with baritone instruments (7-string guitar & 6 string bass), keeping some of the old classics in their setlist. They recorded 2 demos, but, the band was yet to be satisfied with the results. So they called JF Fortin (Barkode axe-virtuoso) to record their 1st self-produced EP. And what a good decision that was. The band toured Quebec for a while, focusing on Montreal and it's surroundings and a got a good feedback from the press & crowd. Unfortunetly, Sam left the band for personal reasons on December 2006, leaving the band without an official bassist until 2007, where JF returns to assume bass duties. The EP was finally released in october 2007, 2 years after it's recording ! From then on, history writes itself...
