Sailors in Rags currently includes: Jeff, Sheila, Rita, and Jay. 3 Former members of the 9 piece band, Chef Dave and Nikita (Jeff, Sheila, and Rita) teamed up in 2007 to create a more intimate sounding music. Jay joined the Sailors a few months later, and the band has been rocking (and soothing) the Highland Park area ever since with it's bluegrass/folk vibe and purdy harmonies. The band enjoys playing a mix of covers and original tunes (e.g. By the Light of the Moon by Sheila Shukla) in various styles including americana, folk, country, and blues. You can spot them playing at local "landlubbing" venues like Tumulty's Pub and Namaste Cafe in New Brunswick, NJ. With an all acoustic line up, the SIRS can perform in a variety of settings, from dark and musty barrooms to picnics in the park. In addition to making fine music, the Sailors love to make homecooked meals, meet new friends, and promote love.

well, after saturday i was inspired to rent a double bass. I'll have it by the end of the week and if all goes well, will be able to play it decently within a couple years.
