Saint Joan are proud to announce that their first album ‘The Wrecker's Lantern’ is available now from Camera Obscura Records! .. To Buy "The Wrecker's Lantern" follow this link: .. ..www.cameraobscura.com.au/cam079.htm.. .. Some Reviews of The Wreckers Lantern: .. “like the Tindersticks in their early prime, delicately finding the blend between mysterious understatement and thrilling, dramatic electric arrangements” ..4/5 All Music ..www.allmusic.com.... .. “Reminiscent of Joy Division as well as Fairport Convention, the music here is folk of a decidedly dark stripe and Ellen McGee's tantalizing lyrics give the songs a cinematic vividness. The Wrecker's Lantern is an entrancing listen.” ..Mike Pelusi, Philadelphia City Paper ..www.citypaper.net.... .. “A truly exquisite introduction to this cooly dreamy outfit; there’s not a weak track here and the deep noir moodcasting aura is never broken. One of the best afterhours soundtracks I’ve heard in awhile, don’t miss this one” ..Dream Magazine ..www.dreamgeo.com.... .. “A confident step forward, ‘The Wrecker’s Lantern’ successfully circumnavigates the pitfalls of the “sophomore slump,” while simultaneously delivering one of the years most heartfelt releases” Terrascope Online ..http://terrascope.co.uk/Reviews.. .. “It’s easy to get lost in Ellen’s voice; aided and abetted by sublime violin, it acts like siren song. Her crew are just as persuasive. The backing they provide is deep, vivid, and full of strange, antique, exotic colors. Saint Joan will probably be referred to as indie-rock by every lazy critic under the sun but as with all truly remarkable bands, it’s a rope to cling to when you have no idea what to do with them.” Stylus Magazine ..www.stylusmagazine.com..

Notes: This, the fourth album from Italy's The Child of a Creek is a gleaming, lysergic gem for sure. Eight stunning neo-folk shoegaze tracks (four of which are instrumentals), equally rural and cosmic, with touches of almost Floydian / Frippian prog. Fragile, electricfied, cinematic. Comes in a in pearlescent bronze envelope with minimalist emerald sun art.

  • Joseki

On the 24 Jan 2011 a new chapter begins in house and techno. Joseki (aka Richard Powell) is the brainchild behind this, with his new record label project called 'Connect for Music'.

The first of the releases on this new label is the 'Functions EP', featuring Morris Cowan (Wigflex, Super, Traum), alongside 'Joseki'.

    Photobucket

The first track on the 'Functions EP' is 'Speak and Dispell'. Here we find Joseki mixing swinging UK funky rhythms with a pinch of techno and deep house. A real potent mixture! Quality stuff.

The second track on the EP is by Morris Cowan, entitled 'The Good Fellow Ship'. Morris Cowan, (Aka Taylor - Wiglex, Super, Traum), is a creator of a distinctive style, combining colourful electronic music, drawing from house, techno, dub, minimal, classical and post-rock. Awesome.

The third and final track on this release is a second offering from Joseki, called 'Moyo'. This final track brings to mind DJ Gregory with a touch of Roska. what with its disco influenced bassline, tropical percussion and quirky synths. Another solid tune.

All three combine with enough different styles to offer something to fans of most tastes.

The Functions EP will be available for download from Jan 24 2011 at Beatport, Juno, Boomkat, Stompy, Beats Digital, Traxsourse, Track it Down, Medianet/HMV, I-Tunes and Amazon.
