Music» CD Release @ May 2, 2006 1:58pm A Publishing DealEvent Details Venue: Abbey Road Music 517 Gammon Lane La Vergne, Tennessee 37086 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some Measure of Success! How Long O Lord May 2, 2006 The people at Abbey Road Music in Nashville (http://abbeyroadmusic.net/ called me today....They want to send 40 of my 5 song demo CDs) (People of God, Have Mercy on Me, Forever I Will Sing, How Long O Lord and Take His Life) to publishers...if you'll notice on the website they are no longer accepting for the time, songs for publication...just under the wire....whew! This is not a big deal...but it is to me...this is a foot in the door with a really nice group of people...and it's in Nashville...when I send my CDs it has my name on it...but this will have my name and THEIRS on it....a little clout...I hope! Anyway I am excited for the opportunity...at least I will send them my whole catalogue eventually to peruse...I just finished the fifth CD recording today! I am excited...relieved...I mean nothing may come of this but just to have someone say they like your stuff enough to do this is great and quite a relief...the phone call came at a very welcome moment! More as the drama unfolds...... Abbey Road has moved and joined forces with newly formed Vision Music Group of Nashville. Vision is made up of a group of people who have had great success in the music business, combining their efforts hoping to have even more. So what does this mean for the songwriter...more clout or more contacts...either way, this can only be good news if one is connected to this group...the more people working to help get you published the better is the only way I can look at it!

About me:
30 years ago I had some of my hymns published by Folk Mass and Modern Liturgy Magazine, an outfit in California, which still exists albeit not in the same form or commitment. Since then I have wanted to create songs for established artists to perform and record. Right now I need exposure for my material. When I was 22 a young lawyer took one of my songs and put it on the ‘B’ side of his recording of Ave Maria. He invited me to watch the recording session at Criteria in Miami, Florida. Since that moment all I have ever wanted was to have my music recorded by professional musicians and sung by established artists. My influences range from the pop music world of the last 45 years to the TV advertising jingles of today as well as the Book of Psalms from the Old Testament of the Bible. All my songs are in the contemporary Christian/Country style of pop music. As a young disc jockey in the late seventies, my attitude toward Christian music was heavily influenced by Christian artist Evie Tornquist-Karlsson. Her albums made me realize that Christian music didn’t have to be dry or old-fashioned sounding. She was vibrant and alive in her stylization but most of all she sounded happy. That is what gave me the idea to bring all the worldly influences into my music so that you would be able to literally swim in the ocean of sounds and also feel connected to the heavens at the same time. I have had interest in my music expressed by Abbey Road Music, now Vision Music Group in Nashville. Angie Chaney helped send about 40 demo discs to publishing houses in the country. Bulldog Evans, a gospel artist and president of Black Rose Productions Inc. in New York also has auditioned all my material. Don Reed of Affinity Productions in Nashville had very positive comments when I contacted him for the expressed purpose of plugging my material to publishers and Jim and Joe Inc. also in Nashville felt that I was headed in the right direction for the immediate future in securing a publishing deal. This of course is a long range goal and a very difficult task for someone who does not perform. But I believe the home demo recordings which I make give a really very good idea of how the songs should be done. The grain of faith which gives birth to the songs then takes the form of the sounds that surround it to express the connection between the sacred and the profane. So my music sounds modernistic but still retains the age-old tried and true elements of religious expression. Music should be fun and memorable most of all. So it follows that "church" music should also. If you can't sing your heart out during a liturgy it's not really worth the time. So all of my music is built around that one simple theme. The memories of the soul and the voices of marketplace. After all, we were meant to bring everything that we are to the meeting place and share it with everyone there in the Lord's presence. These songs span the years 1974-2008
