About me:

St Mary's Catholic Church

20 Merivale Street

South Brisbane Qld 4101

It is the custom at St Mary's to pay our respects to the Indigenous owners of the land on which we stand. We also offer our respect to the elders of the Brisbane Community and invite you to do the same in your area.

This site takes St Mary's into the world of social networking.Unlike official web pages, social networking builds on friends and members who join a site. As a "friend" you receive regular bulletins and invitations to events promoted at St Mary's. You are also welcome to join in discussions around issues raised on the blog pages. There is a public comment tool you can use to send your message to the site. The aim of this site is to offer an an insight into the diversity of this global community called the Catholic Church

Among the friends on this site, you will find participants in the 2008 World Youth Day in Sydney, including those from Brisbane

The community that gathers around the Church of St Mary's South Brisbane reflects the diversity of Catholic identity.

St Mary's Community is an intentional inclusive community that welcomes all who gather for worship to share in the words and actions of the liturgy.

St Mary's is a community of Catholic people of faith in action who believe that "Action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel, or, in other words, of the Christian mission for the redemption of the human race and its liberation from every oppressive situation.”
The Synod of Catholic Bishops in Rome, 1971

St Mary's Web is the official Community site. It provides online access to the newsletter, good books, volunteer opportunities and campaigns you can support for justice and human rights.
Who I'd like to meet:
You are welcome to respond to the blogs that are posted here, post a comment about the photos in the galleries or add a comment for everyone to read on the profile page. The strength and value of this site will come from those who engage with the text and images of a faith community in action.

UGH! It's just that he picks the damnedest (I know it's not a word) times to take a nap. I am STARVING and I didn't plan on cooking because my dad gave us a gift certificate to go to Ruby Tuesday and we had plans to go. I tried to wake him up over an hour ago and he's still laying there. I'm moving on from annoyed to pissed off! anywayz, it went good. We got stuff for our wii. How was yours? know what sucks? that IM supposed to be the one that knows about "web-stuff" and your profile is better than mine? Maybe I should just let you take care of mine like mom does Dan's...ohh, that reminds me, speaking of mom; i finally got her to start taking those surveys online like i'm doing, cuz i know the extra money sure comes in handy. you should really try em. i mean, if i got mom to try it, psh, i can get anybody to, heh..i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:

www.surveyblings.com

... anyhow, I know we are both kinda like "wo

I just want to voice my absolute support for Fr Peter Kennedy amidst the current turmoil. I simply cannot believe the series of events I have witnessed over these past few weeks. Our humble little church has become the centre of the Catholic world, and im growing tired of seeing it on the news every night. I'm exceedingly disappointed with the Archbishop's decree. There are serving priests who are known to be guilty of transgressions of the worst possible morally reprehensible nature, and yet they are allowed to continue practising, while Peter has been sacked for what are really peripheral issues. He should be applauded for the progressive stance he has taken, and instead he has been sacked. I think the people who should be sacked are in Rome, not Brisbane.

World Peace Before 2021

May 21 2008 12:30 PM

Dear Saint Mary's Community: Thank you for YourFriendship. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil Kollist's quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he performs beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage www. worldpeacebefore2021. com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! I'm sharing two photos with you. The first is of my son distributing his free world peace bumperstickers and the second photo is of him singing his song “World Peace Before 2021” at Maui's Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Day Festivities in January 08. Bt all means, email Axil if you’d like him to mail you one of his free “World Peace Before 2021” bumpersticker or if you’d like to invite him to sing for your function. His email address is worldpeacebefore2021@hawaii.rr.com .Very best regards, Axil's mom
