Bio
"To everyone out there who has found something of value in listening to my songs, I ask only that you help me to do this grass roots style. Pass it along. Share it. Sign up for e-mail updates. Spread the word. I finally realized I don't need anybody to design my career. But I do need you to share it if you love it! I thank you and hope this is the beginning of a life long relationship!" - Saith What’s with the name? Saith was born as Näthan Saith Gangadean. Phonetically Näthan is pronounced something like NAW-thin. Upon signing a record deal 4 years ago, there was a long discussion about whether this name would ever work in a world where very few understand what two dots do to an "a". "Would he be just plain Nathan? But he's not Nathan, he's Näthan." And Gangadean is such a mouthful! That's where the middle name comes in. While most people are familiar with the word saith in a biblical connotation ie. "Thus saith the Lord..." it is actually from his father's side of the family who are from India. No one actually knows what it means. But it is his name and it stands alone. Pronounced like Faith but with an “S”. Saith is originally from another star system we think. And he might be rather lost by now if it weren't for being born into a relatively stable family and home outside of Philly to parents who allowed him to breathe and discover who he is as a kind of extraterrestrial in human form. It wouldn't be his first time on Earth. But the first time since She has been so utterly desecrated and overrun by the greedy powers that characterize what we currently call normal reality. Despite being given the space to be different at home, he still bears the wounds of a Free Soul trying to make sense of why it hurts to BE in this world of obsessive doing and chronic dis-ease. You might even say this is the root of all his sonic creations. A whole hearted attempt to find his way to his natural state of peace and connection through music and invite anyone along who shares his desire to create at least some portion of this world to allow for humanness in all its glory, and spiritual recognition in all its wonder. Try to pin Saith down to a sound? Maybe...10 years ago when he began his journey as a songwriter. You might call that phase his Spiritual Folk Rock era. Which he has found deep fulfillment in reviving through the creation of his soon-to -be self-released album of heart and mind opening songs. But is that enough for Saith? He certainly does not feel so! So saith Saith, "I have been in a deep struggle for years, assuming that I had to pick a sound. I have to find one avenue and just stick with that. I was so afraid that I would get stuck to a sound and not be able to get out of it. But we are in a new day and age. Part of the information age is that there is such an amazing variety of music. And you don't meet many people anymore that are strictly into one style and one style only. This is an old way of defining ourselves. I myself Love such a variety of different music. Dance, Electronica, Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, old and new etc, etc. And I have found great joy and satisfaction by allowing all of these sounds to make it through my creative process!" So in defining Saith we might say that the best way to describe him is, well, un-describable. Or perhaps, multi-genre-fied if we may design new terminology. While his first official self produced album will be a major coming out of the closet as a “Lover of Spirit”, he assures us to not throw the baby out with the spiritual bath water if that's not your flavor. Expect much more. "I'd love to do what Franti does! Rock out and get everyone hopping with messages of Love and standing up for truth! I'd love to do what Josh Rouse does, and bring you into a completely unique world of feeling and character that just feels good to listen to. I'd love to dance like MJ and provide an array of sounds that covers everything from the funk to the heart opening numbers that we know him for. I'd love to get strange like Gnarls Barkley with song like my recent Seductive Logic which was born of real pain and confusion. And, time provided, I will make sure it happens. Not because I want recognition. But because I want to be a vessel for all those different vibrations. But if there is one thread that connects them all, it is the Spirit. It is the Soul. It is my desire for the music to not only feel good on all levels, but to also create awakening to the forgotten heaven in all of us." While Saith has put himself at the mercy of "the way things are out there" and has been patiently waiting for doors to open, things have changed since the dawn of 2010. "Songs have been flowing like mad in my studio and elsewhere. I realized that I would be waiting forever to get out there if I assume that I need someone else who knows how to do that. And I realized that I have it all here. The studio, the internet, even the camera. Though it may be low budget, the feeling is there. The authenticity to what I am wanting to create is there. If you are a critical person you will be able to pick apart anything I do. But I don't want all the other people who want to experience these vibrations in all their authenticity and imperfection to suffer because I've been afraid of the critics. All I can do is the best I can with what I have. Like the video for Again and Again. We just went for it. Did a couple of takes of me dancing and singing to a new song creation and threw it together in iMovie so at least you can taste something from the magic that we feel is happening here." In the end, come to Saith to have a feeling. Listen to his music to touch a place inside that you have long since forgotten and sorely missed. In the end, come here to be reminded that you are a glorious embodiment of spirit who has just begun to realize your potential. "I am on the path with everyone else. I do not claim enlightenment. But I experience it every day, more and more. And as I do, it comes with a soundtrack. I want to share that with you." -
