Saje's Interests

| General | Science Fiction and Fantasy, reading, writing, and gaming. Suspense/thrillers...reading. I've tried to write suspense before and simply ended up with fantasy noir. Entertaining, perhaps, but not what I was looking for.
Politics, particularly that of the populist or liberal variety. I guess I just believe people are basically good, and that the more you know, the more tolerance you have for different viewpoints. | | Music | I like all kinds of music, ranging from classical strings to classic rock to modern metal, and will probably always have a soft spot for some of the hair metal bands of the eighties, which is when I came of age. But that doesn't stop me from appreciating a lot of the singer-songwriters of the past several years.
Okay, my tastes are quite eclectic. I don't like the grunting roar of modern thrash and I don't tend to like much hip hop or rap. There are a few exceptions to this, so nothing is set in stone. Does it say anything to admit that I wore out Pink's "Missundaztood" and Evanescence's "Fallen? in CD? | | Movies | Anything with, preferably, a mix of sci-fi or fantasy, humor, action, and drama. Ghostbusters, Serenity, The Princess Bride, Harry Potter, LOTR, to name a few. | | Television | They canceled the best show ever on TV at the end of the first season. I'm talking about Firefly, probably the best show ever. I was also a huge fan of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, which had its ups and downs, but was still a damn good show they ended on a perfect note. The ending of Angel was pathetic, on the other hand.
Another great show that ended before its time was Farscape.
These days I watch a host of shows (I have a DVR), including all the CSIs, Heroes, Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Boston Legal, Life, Chuck, Criminal Minds, Bones, NCIS, House, and (on the premium channels), Dexter, and Real Time with Bill Maher. | | Books | I've got a whole reading list on my website.
