Year Would Do Again
About me: Because of the success found through last year's Salem CultureFest 2008, we at A3D are proud to announce that we are moving forward with Salem CultureFest 2009!! Salem is reknowned for its witch trials and Halloween-based themes. It has been a place where people flock to every October to be spooked, scared, and entertained. Other than that, Salem is known as just another historical city in New England for the remaining 11 months of the year.
Introducing the Salem CultureFest 2009!!
The Salem CultureFest 2009- Dates 7/25 and 7/26 on the Salem Common (next to the historic Hawthorne Hotel). This event will feature live bands who showcase many cultures and styles, as well as other performers (TBA) who will entertain you while you enjoy exploring the unique arts, crafts, and wares of our areas finest artists and crafters. Over 2000 visitors are expected to attend this fun family-friendly event, and it is our hope to make this event a permanent part of Salem's annual events.
One of the primary goals of the Salem CultureFest is to bring to the surface the many cultures and diversity found in and around Salem. For a city with such rich history, Salem should become known for what it truly is: A place to explore anytime of year.
Funds raised at the 2006 event were used to successfully bring 10 new computers to the AEDEC school in Dakar Senegal, and to bring 10 new sewing machines to Les 3D in Porokhane, Senegal. The computer network is the first of its kind in a public school in Senegal, servicing over 1600 middle through high school students. At the training facility (Les 3D), the sewing machines are used to assist many young women in gaining employable skills from which they can support themselves.
The goal of this and last year's events is to raise enough money to start a multicultural center in Salem, Massachusetts. In addition, 10% of the proceeds raised during Salem CultureFest 2009 will be donated to another local non-profit organization - TBA.
10% of the proceeds from Salem CultureFest 2007 was donated to Help For Abused Women and Their Children.
10% of the proceeds from the Salem CultureFest 2008 was donated to the Salem School Foundation.
If you are an artist and/or vendor and you are interested in featuring your wares at the Salem CultureFest, please register now!!
