We live in Salem Oregon! And we are proud of that fact.
Salem, Keizer, and the Mid-Valley are full of far more excitement, creativity, art, culture, energy, community, vitality and spirit than we often notice. But it is time we stood up and said: This is our community! And we will make it great!
The Culture Shock Community Project exists to spark the sense of community and vitality so deeply needed in Salem, Oregon. We love it here, and we KNOW we are surrounded by greatness.
This is the Cherry City Revolution! And we are lighting the spark. (In fact, we even named our magazine Spark JUST because of that) We say “thus far, and no farther.” This is the Cherry City Revolution of Salem, Oregon.
Salem, Oregon is a beautiful and great place to live AND play, and we know it’s got potential to be so much more. We believe that there is so much good here that is completely ignored, overlooked, and squandered. We also believe that there is so much more that we can become. But it's not going to improve until we, as a group of thoughtful, passionate, energized citizens BELIEVE in our town AND get involved! JOIN THE CHERRY CITY MOVEMENT!
There is so much to fight for, but you have to be willing to stand up, throw up your hand, and say that, yes, you do believe that we can grow, and that this city is worth our passions, our ideas, and our work!
The Cherry City Revolution is not about talking. It’s not about wishing and hoping for a better Salem.
Whether you are someone that says “Man, Salem sucks”, or you are someone that says “I really love Salem”, we still look to the same goal: a better, brighter, and more beautiful community here in Salem.
So stop TALKING and start DOING. Leave your ego at the door. We can make Salem the cherry or Oregon that it has always meant to be. But we have to DO it.
Join the revolution. That's what Culture Shock is all about!
In the end, there are three kinds of people in the world. People who wonder what happened, people who watch what happened, and people who make things happen. Which one will you be?
