  • Bio

.. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Peter Salett and Larry Goldings: The Carriage House Sessions.., is an exciting collaboration between two very distinctive, emotive musicians..... Los Angeles based label Sweet Song Records is excited to announce ..The Carriage House Sessions.. is available now on iTunes worldwide and most other online stores...... Springing organically from a day when Larry came over to Peter’s place to “maybe write a song”, the two realized immediately that they shared a similar sense of what a modern standard might be, and a reverence for the craft of songwriting. Their influences ranged from Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson to Stephen Sondheim and the classic Tony Bennett/Bill Evans records of the 70’s. They decided to get together one month later, in February of 2009, to write and record an entire record. With Larry on piano and Peter singing, the songs came easily, as did a few uniquely interpreted classics from the American popular songbook, and they recorded the record in four days at Sheldon Gomberg’s studio in Silverlake, The Carriage House. .... ..Peter Salett.. has released five albums on his own Dusty Shoes Music label, and has become well known in the film world for both movie scoring and writing songs for movies. In 2008 he wrote, arranged and performed songs for Universal Pictures’ “Role Models”; and he was extensively involved writing songs for characters to sing in the Universal Pictures romantic comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", executive produced by Judd Apatow. He also co-scored Harris Fishman’s HBO documentary “Cat Dancers”, which premiered in December 2008 after winning the SXSW Special Jury Prize..... Earlier film work include the score for David Jacobson's Cannes Film Festival selection "Down in the Valley", starring Edward Norton. Five of Salett's songs, written for the movie, are also featured in the film, including the opening title. His songs have been featured in many films including “Keeping the Faith” (end title) and cult classic “Wet Hot American Summer” (end title)..... ..Larry Goldings.. is one of the most heralded jazz musicians of his generation. High in demand as a sideman, Goldings has been seen live and heard on record with a wide range of artists, including Michael Brecker, Jack DeJohnette, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, Maceo Parker, Madeleine Peyroux, John Pizzarelli, John Scofield, Curtis Stigers, and James Taylor. Under his own name, Goldings has made ten critically-acclaimed albums, many of them featuring his well-known organ trio with Peter Bernstein on guitar and Bill Stewart on drums..... Larry has spent many years as a featured sideman in James Taylor’s band, and often tours with him as a duo. In 2007 Starbucks/Hear Music released the DVD/CD “James Taylor: One Man Band”. The discs capture Taylor’s recent concerts at the Colonial Theatre in the Berkshires, with Larry accompanying James as his “one man band”. .... Goldings' recent project, "Trio Beyond" (ECM), earned him, John Scofield, and Jack DeJohnette a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Instrumental Album (2007)..... ....
