After seven years as a trio the band Salli Lunn now reemerges as a quartet joined by the bass player, Jan Nissen, who is mostly known for his efforts in the quiet three-piece called Amber. Despite engagements in several other projects such as Mette Mareridt, Death by Kite and The late Parade the band has always felt a distinct need to present the fruit of seven years of hard work.
In order to do so Salli Lunn joined forces with the guitarist and producer, Jonas Munk, who has released albums under the name of Manual and is also widely known as the guitarist and songwriter in the psych/kraut-act Causa Sui.
The efforts have resulted in a great recording with ten tracks, which is being mastered right as you are reading these lines. There will be an expected release in Denmark in the spring of 2010 and in time steps will be taken towards an international release as well later on.
With inspiration from bands such as This Heat, Unwound, Slint and the early Blonde Redhead Salli Lunn presents a powerful compilation of songs, touching the styles of prog, math and noise rock with a playful desire to explore different structures and compositions while keeping in mind the beauty of the pure and simple hook.
Back in 1981-83 New York Based Ike Yard were amongst the leading acts within the booming post punk/ No Wave scene. After an explosive, yet shortlived career, with album release on Factory Records (Joy Division, New Order a.o), the band called it quits in 1983.
Now 26 years later the three original members have regrouped and recorded new material to be released as a 4tr. limited edition 10” vinyl ep & cd album on the danish/ swedish phisteria label.
Hej Salli Lunn. Vi har netop smidt fire numre ud på profilen. Disse er produceret af Jonas, som jeg ved også har produceret jeres. Det ville være fedt hvis i gad at lytte. Mvh. Dorias Baracca
