Writing, photography, art, cinema, web design, good friends and a good book (not necessarily all at the same time)
Music
I have very eclectic tastes, but I'll begin with: Clannad, Sting, Rogue Traders, Pete Murray, U2, Taxi Ride, Delta Goodrem, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Waiting Room and for the irreverent amongst us, who have a healthy sense of humour and an appreciation of superb musical talent: SuperGirly and Chutzpah (who's song "Chanukah's da Bomb" is here on my profile - but you should really check out their website - www.chutzpahthegroup.com - to see the video clip and get the full experience ... you haven't lived until you've seen Master Tav and Dr Dreck (aka George Segal) in action - trust me)
Movies
Far too many to think of immediately, but I'll start with the ones I've been watching over the past month: Truly Madly Deeply, Bend It Like Beckham, My House in Umbria, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Underworld & Underworld: Evolution, The Harry Potter series, The X-Men series, Highlander (only the first one!), The Mummy & The Mummy Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2 & 3, The Fifth Element and Galaxy Quest
Books
I've read so many books, that I just don't know where to start, so I'll just reel off what I've been reading over the past few weeks and build from there: "Straight Face" by Sir Nigel Hawthorne, anything by Agatha Christie, the Inspector Morse series, anything by Charles deLint, "The Moon's A Balloon" by David Niven and the Harry Potter series
Heroes
I never like the word "heros" in context with people who inspire me. It's evokes images of capes and superpowers, which belong in comic books and on cinema screens. So, let me rename the title of this section as "People I admire", because that makes more sense to me. With that disclaimer in place, here goes: Dame Judi Dench, Sir Derek Jacobi, Sir Michael Caine, Dame Diana Rigg, Dame Maggie Smith, Zoe Wannamaker, Alan Rickman, Brad Pitt, Sir Ian McKellen, Richard E. Grant, Johnny Depp, Richard Harris, Gary Oldman and, of course, Sir Nigel Hawthorne
Credits include:
Interchange,
Bridget & Benny (a modern faerietale),
Ring of Roses,
Return,
Death of a Property Salesman,
A Little Rain Must Fall,
Within &
Sleeper
Credits include: Romeo & Juliet (Australian Shakespeare Company), Chasing Pegasus (a play in ten chords) (Melb. Fringe Festival),
Young Turks (La Mama),
Lovepuke &
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Australian Professional Premier)
Credits include: Elephant Princess (Network Ten), Comedy Inc. (Nine Network), Blue Heelers (Seven Network), Neighbours (Network Ten), Bingles (Network Ten), Bootleg (BBC), The Bookworm (BBC), Flying Doctors (Nine Network), Fast Forward (Seven Network

WHO IS SALLY McLEAN?
THE PERSONAL AND SOMEWHAT IRREVERENT VERSION
An actress and writer by choice - a producer and web designer
by necessity, Sally McLean has done many different things over
her life so far.
Almost born Canadian (her mother made it back to Melbourne
with only days to spare) Sally grew up in Australia in a then
outer suburb of Melbourne called Frankston.
She spent her formative years being bored silly in class and
playing up, which lead some less than diligent teachers to treat
her like the class clown, and she has vague memories of actually
being made to sit in the corner of the classroom facing the wall
on more than one occasion. It turned out (years later, mind you)
that she was actually dyslexic - something the school never thought
to test her for.
The one teacher who did encourage her in a supportive way was
her Drama teacher, Mrs Sist, who encouraged her to put her energies
into creative pursuits. So, ultimately, it is all her fault that
Sally became an actress.
In a strange twist, at age 12, Sally was chosen to participate
in a Gifted Children's program (created for kids with higher than average I.Q.'s - yes, she was smart once, okay??), made up of students selected from
all the various high schools statewide. Twelve students, of which
Sally was one, meet each week after school to do extra work and
develop their individual "gifts" and skills.
Unfortunately, drama was not one of the skills provided for
and so Sally quickly became bored with playing chess, learning
advanced mathmatics and building model houses for the future (although,
hers was pretty groovy, with aquariums in the basement and a pool
in the roof, made entirely of solar panels), so she only lasted
two terms in the program before refusing to attend anymore.
The rest of her school years passed by in a bit of a blur -
she does remember turning up to her Year 12 dance with a rather
radical haircut, in a classic sportscar with a much older boy,
which caused a huge scandal - particularly amongst the teachers
- which, in her opinion, was the best way to say farewell to that part of her life.
Her post school years were much more interesting, with lots
of travel, mainly to the UK and US, a professional acting career
and her becoming a playwright and screenwriter. She has also produced
and directed various films and theatre productions, with plans
to move into feature film in the near future. She continues to
act in film, television and theatre and play up when she can.
She's also become an Internet entrepreneur, opening her online
store for showbiz people - Incognita Enterprises Online Store - providing
designs on t-shirts, gifts, office wear and home ware for those
working in the entertainment industry.

Who I'd like to meet: People who show compassion, have imagination, aren't afraid to say how they feel or stand up for what they believe, know how to laugh and don't take themselves too seriously.

Yes I’ve seen your t-shirts – “I don’t arrive, I make an entrance” love that one :)
What the documentary your directing amount? - Or is a bit hush hush at the mo?
Writing a thing or too myself – I’m writing a sort of “Taming of the shrew” type play at the moment. Which is keeping me busy although if truth be told once finished I will not have the funds to put the thing properly (extremely poor full time actor!!)
So I’m going to record it as a Radio Play (I have all the equipment for that sort of thing) and try and get somebody to broadcast it. So fingers crossed.
Hey good luck with the Shakespeare thing – is that with Glen Elston down there in the Melbourne gardens??
Well do give us a yell if your up this end of town.
Sal! I did'nt fall over, I just fainted standing upright LOL Thanks for taking the time to leave a birthday message, I know how valuable your time is my dear. Take care..be happy LLL Deb.x.
Hello my lovely fellow redhead! Long time no see. How've you been? Busy by the sounds of things! Would love to catch up when you're free, maybe a drink some night soon. We must work together again. I miss you! Cheers Sonya

I've been well thanks, keeping real busy preparing to head overseas later this year. Lots to get ready. Currently building my other business so I won't have to work too hard on my travels, preparing to sell most of my belongings (incl. car, motorbike...), lightening the load per se.
Why thank you Sally and howdy back :) Don't worry about the old haven't dropped a message thing, we're all busy! I've actually been busy mourning my dog Lucy who I had to put down last friday..she was 14 and cancer ridden. Very sad but better now she's no longer suffering. Told myself I'd wait a bit before getting another dog but I've already started scouring the rspca's!
Happy New Year and all that – Yes it has been a while :)
Yep been pretty busy this end, Spent November/December doing various corporate entertainment gigs, murder mystery nights and a couple of AFTRS short films and then spent January running round the Sydney Botanic gardens as Head Chief Rabbit in The Wind in the Willows.
Have a couple of quite weeks before it all starts again which is nice, onwards and up wards for 2008 as they say.
