The Fishermen; a song we recorded for a laugh at a practice in an empty church with Keith Thomas, when I was singing with Rapsquillion in 2000. I think it's a really nice song, but can't persuade anyone to play it for me now. I learned it from am LP of Judy Collins. I'm influenced by; Robin Laing, Petula Clark, Genesis, Beatles, James Taylor, Watersons, Monkees, Strawbs, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, June Tabor, Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny, Ian Giles, Neil Sedaka, Dolly Parton ..... and definately not by Miss Rusby...to be continued

My early singing career began when I was a nauseating kid singing myself to sleep every night with songs by Petula Clark! Then in the 1970s my brother formed blues and progressive rock bands and I managed to get behind a mic in the practice room (because I used to make the coffee for the band) and "tonight Mathew I'm Christine Perfect". Then when I was asked by the Teme Valley Young Farmers club to sing in the entertainment competition. Yeah ok, but when you're a young girl living in the middle of nowhere on a farm and desperate to sing you'll do anything; anyway it WAS fun! I sang in the hills and fields when riding my horse hacking about. I used to stand on the desks at school and entertain the class with Monkees songs until the teacher came in late for whatever lesson it was. I also entertained on the school bus getting kids to sing along. 1980 saw me helping a guy with his recordings at Chapel Lane studio, Hereford doing a bit of backing singing. Then for 17 years I sang not a note in public except joining in with nursery songs etc while bringing up my bloomin kids. Both Lucie and my boy Joe are talented musos (Lucie voice, guitar, bass, keyboard and violin - Joe Bass drums and 6 & 7 string guitars) but won't have anything to do with singing or accompanying their mother. Humph! I love em tho anyway, stubbourn buggers! My other daughter Charlie is a brilliant coffee maker with Costa in Ludlow. They all sing beautifully but won't sing with me. 1998 was the year I joined a 5 part harmony group (Rapsquillion) and we sang a varied repertoire including non conformist hymns. Some great ones but on the whole that wasn't the direction I wanted to go in. I sing with John Eyre and sometimes with Arthur Hide calling ourselves Loxley (also in myspace). I sing unacompanied at folk festivals in the singarounds etc and desperately need a guitarist to play for me. So if you want to contact me I'd be most grateful. I spend time in High Wycombe and Herefordshire. Oh and I won't mention freshly squeezed lemonade on this page either. Oh alright just a quick word...Amongst many festivals my favourite festival to sell my wares is Dartmoor Folk Festival, South Zeal, in August. Very atmospheric and very different from other fests. Like a village fete with folk music.
I have done some sailing and have a comp crew cert, and have I mentioned that I love horse riding?
I scored 41 on Dr. Phil's personality test
Others see me as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see me as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who will always cheer them up and help them out. Yeeee Haaaaa!!!
LOL

Hey Ho Sally, nice to hear from ya. I don't know what the X Factor is but big congrats to your son! Cornwall?.. 200 miles?..WOW! I bet your feet are tired!(harhar)
We have no fog to speak of but plenty of drizzle and cold temps. It's okay though, we have our woodstove cranked up to keep everyone nice and toasty!
Hello Sally, Thanks for writing. Glad to hear you're feeling okay, back pain can be a bear! I think I know what you mean about having a good sing and how it affects your well being. I've not been able to play my geetar for nearly seven months now. Before that I'd never gone more than a few days. On a positive note though, I'm happy to say I'm teaching myself to play the keys, one handed mind you but it keeps me busy! Home grown music sounds very good, I wish we had that around here. Aside from a couple coffee houses there's not much for the working musicians. I have my mixcraft 4 to record and once in awhile my son, Austin and lovely, Autumn come around and we jam. Keep finding new challenges! Peace, Good Things, Twigg
Dear Sally, Not a lot happening here but still rehabbing this left hand and trying to figure out this Mixcraft 4. Just wanted to stop by to send good vibes and hope you're feeling better. Good Things, Twigg
Howdy Sally, apologies for not getting back sooner but I've been in a bit of a funk myself...ah well, good days , bad days. Not too big on celebrating these occasions but I can always count on cookies! This time they were shaped like pumpkins. The next ones will be shaped like turkeys then Santa Claus...well, you get the picture. I wouldn't worry bout missing a party cause there's always a party! You could be your own party with that beautiful voice you have! I'm really enjoying,"The Little Mohee". Be well Sally Peace, Twigg
Apparently, demon spelt daemon can mean a pretty good spirit, but as I spelt it 'demon'!!!
my demons are self-doubt,introspection,addiction(to bloody nicotine),and potatoes,to name just a few!!!
We all have them don't we,if we're honest enough to take stock of our own lives??
I kinda give them a bash and then they come back at me,but hey, that's life!!!!
This time of year gets me down,I really feel the sun waning,y'know,I really do.But i'm a kind of ,"Get your bloody chin up and stop being miserable" type as well.More than one side to my coin!!!
Hiya Sally! Thanks for the status comment! Tonight's gig went really well-I got to play two short sets. My live sound has evolved so much since I started gigging regularly in London. God Bless, Tim.
Howdy Sally, wow, no fewer than twenty words...I requested friendship basically because I like making friends. I actually have a few friends that I write to regularly. Mostly musicians but there are writers that blog. some are poets, some into art. Some with cool pix. It's great stuff to be sure! Another reason is peripheral neuropathy. I have it and as a result I'm pretty much a recluse. I used to play music for a living. Can't do that anymore. I have a mixcraft and a midi keyboard and that keeps me busy. The midi thing is a whole 'nother story. I 've blogged on each song and some explain my reason for using the midi. I'll leave ya with this...Your music and your singing are out of this world! "Mama Blues" is vicious! Peace, Good Things, Twigg
Can't remember if I've already replied saying we can't get down to Solwey later this month. So, in case I haven't....sorry, Sal, we can't get down to Solwey later this month. Have a great time and pass on our regards to everyone.
Phil & Janet
PS: I see you've got the wonderful Teddy Mikalski as a friend on here. He's a great guy with a warm heart. Janet and me spent a magical and educational few days with him a couple of weeks ago. Have a look at the photos in our album titled "Denmark" to see what a peaceful place he's got. Top man.
Hi Sally - This is Jack from Jamstand Festival! Hope you are well. Are you going to do your lemonade stall this time? August 13th and 14th 2010!
This is my band - have a listen to our recordings - really rough and old, but we are mid studio right now, so if you like what you hear so far - just you wait!!
hello Sally dont worry I can see how busy you have been. We are warmer here than you are i think over there, hardely any rain this year. Perfect place for the selling of lemonade.Enjoy your Autumn Hugs from Teddy in Denmark xxxx
Hello! Ooh muggy and sticky weather is terrible. It's hot here, there has been one good Autumn-like day (October 1st) and then the heat came back with a vengeance.
6 tracks in one day! I am impressed! I expect they will soon be making a debut on your page?
I'm fine Sally, really in music and songwriting mode, but am being frustrated by neighbours (the troubles with home recording) as they keep noisily mowing lawns, and across the street this woman is having all kinds of work done, involving concrete mixers and whatever else (which woke me up early), and I can't get a day of quiet to actually record! Double glazed windows and thick curtains haven't helped at all! I'm going to try again tonight. Lori x
Hiya Sally! Thanks for the comment! I am very happy to be doing so well in the myspace Jazz and Blues U.K. unsigned charts at the moment-sometimes I even get in their Acoustic chart too. Like you,I do find Soundclick a bit of a mystery-I've got a definate love/hate relationship with them!People do really listen to your stuff on Soundclick-I have had some great feedback in the past there! I think in these days of "self promotion" any good acknowledgement of your music has to be seen as a positive! God Bless, Tim.
Well then Sally, come and see us in Kentucky sometime... we're not so different from Herefordshire... excepting from the indisputable fact that our horses run faster.
Yes I think most people probably read the status page, but we tend to have so many friends that it's an effort to respond to all of them. Well, some people have "fall", but I have Autumn, don't you?
Hiya Sally! Thanks for the status comment! Can you check what you said out for me please-go to Music-then at the bottom of the page are the genres-click the genre and that goes straight to their chart-have a look at myspace's Jazz Top 100 chart for the U.K.-I'm @ number 14 in their unsigned chart. Let me know what it says-Thanks! God Bless, Tim.
Hi there, thanks for reading my comments. It's now the end of the summer season and i'm 'resting' from selling lemonade. Abergavenny Food Festival went exceptionally well, so ner to those who missed out on purchasing my little business, i'm not selling it now. In fact I'm expanding, so watch this space. So what does the Lemonade Lady do during the winter? I've booked a holiday to Peru for a change. I'm very fond of guinea pigs and i'm going to rescue as many as i can and start up a sanctuary for them. Then we are touring north to do some christmas shopping and will come back when winter is over and the birds fly north to our manky little broken island again. Thanks for reading this, you are the only one!
