Sally's earliest pro work was a session with popular dance act Saint Etienne in the 1990s. Later she collaborated with ambient music duo Surge. After writing and recording together for just a couple of months, Millennium Records signed them and released Cold Air - a Surge/Strawberry original. Remixes of Cold Air and a successful cover of Gershwin's Summertime were released as well-reviewed singles with extensive air play - notably on Pete Tong's essential collection and XFM. A decade later they continue to appear on various dance compilations.
In 2000, Sally collaborated with programmer and engineer Ned Douglas (then working with Dave Stewart, formerly with Mick Hucknall, Atomic Kitten and Blue among others). Ned's tracks provided an apt backdrop to Sally's own bluesy writing style. The collaboration yielded an album's worth of ambient, laid-back tracks - several of which still feature in Sally's live repertoire.
However, Ned's move to the US and Sally's appetite for live work led to her forming a blues trio, performing on the European circuit. Sally was particularly drawn to France - with several successful festival dates, including Beauvais, Belle-Isle-En-Terre and Cognac.
Latterly she's been touring the south coast of England with her jazz/blues combo "The Sally Strawberry Revue" - featuring Sally, Andy Broad on guitar and Mags Wiley on bass. Along with successful dates on the blues scene, the trio have made several festival appearances.
Sally's also currently working with 20 year-old French Blues prodigy
Charlie Fabert and his band - in preparation for a French/UK tour in December. Plans include collaborating on several new tracks.
Sally continues to write, record and seek out interesting collaborators.
