Dear Friends:
Now living in Las Vegas, I often reflect on how very lucky I have been in my long career as a musician. I have been blessed with year after year of steady work. I've worked in many cities in the US and throughout the world. I've lived and gigged on the West Coast and in Texas. The biggest blessing of all, was being invited to play a club in New Orleans on Bourbon Street in 1979. The 5 night a week gig was supposed to be for 2 weeks, but it lasted 9 years and I ended up living in that fascinating city for 22 years. The quality and soul of the musicians in New Orleans is like no other I have found. I pray that the people there will someday get back to life as it was before Katrina.
I was blessed to relocate a few years before that terrible storm to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
There I was further blessed with yet another steady gig of 4 years. Thank you to Chris Eberle who was a great boss and is a wonderful friend. I so enjoyed the many jam sessions with all the great musicians that stopped by what once was a wonderful restaurant/bar - The Universe Cafe.
Last year, right before moving to Las Vegas I found out my 2007 release, "Sundown Blue" was nominated in 2 categories for the 50th Grammy Awards. The CD was nominated in the Best Traditional Blues Category and the song "Angelina" from that CD, was nominated for Song of the Year. This was in the beginning stages of the nomination process (not the final 5 or 6), but what an honor it was! This CD can be purchased on this site or on CD Baby.
Now in Las Vegas, I await to see what will unfold. I love it here. I'm playing with 3 different bands and enjoy riding Angel (my Harley) and soaking up the beautiful sights. Las Vegas is surrounded by many gorgeous state and national parks. You can see one of my favorite parks and hear some of my music on You Tube by entering "SallyTownesZZZ" in the search window.
It amazes me that playing music is still so rewarding. I give THANKS to GOD that I have been blessed with my life in music --- thanks that I can play and sing, write music, get a good live mix and engineer pretty well in my studio, thanks that I have made good business decisions and THANKS to all for your continued support thru the years!
