I could say that I live for music and the sea but generally, I love socialising, music, reading, art, creativity, swimming, water sports (Happily, I've tried surfing in Bournemouth and hope to again :D) and the odd bit of singing... mainly in my car.
Music and Singing
I've recently been the lead singer of a band called Lower Your Expectations, who performed for one night only (Well, ok, we had two practice sessions at local pubs) at a charity gig on May 30th 2009 at The Varsity, Wolverhampton (In aid of the charity Little Lemurs) There are some videos on the Lower Your Expectations Profile. Sadly, my little adventure into Hampshire has taken me away from the band but I hope they will continue with great success. Maybe I'll find another band to practice with and we'll play again one day.
At some point, when I can afford it, I'd like to learn the double bass. I fell in love with the deep rich sound after attending a Seth Lakeman gig in Shrewsbury.
Local History
I was born in Lincolnshire but raised in Shropshire, so I'm happy to say that I'm a 'Proud Salopian'... I love local stories and legends, things which give you a sense of identity and belonging.
Art and Culture
As an artist, I appreciate the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, fantasy art and the odd bit of manga (I rather like Japanese culture). I'm also a fan of the artistic skills of Rachael Huntington and Tara McPherson.
I have a very ecclectic taste in music...
Seth Lakeman,Daniel Bedingfield, Natasha Bedingfield, Nikola Rachelle, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, KT Tunstall, David Bowie, Queen, Sting, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Gwen Stefani, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Pink, Erykah Badu, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, The Beautiful South, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Guns N Roses, Metallica, System of a Down... I'm sure I can think of more.
..
I love this man! Bill Bailey and Cockney Music...
And another of my favourites...
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, My Lovely Bones, Bridget Jones's Diary, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, The Princess Bride, Memoires of a Geisha, Turning Thirty - Mike Gayle, The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown, How to Walk in High Heels - Camilla Morton, Does Anything Eat Wasps? - New Scientist
I'm a graduate of art and a qualified science communicator with a lot of life experience. I've lived in quite a few places in the UK, worked in many different roles... mostly customer service, for which I seem to have a passion. I've done many things I thought I would never do, roll down a hill in giant inflatable hamster ball, hold a tarantula, sing in a band... All of these things have made me who I am. Now I'm on a journey to find happiness on the south coast. It may be foolhardy but it feels right.

Lovely to hear from you. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the blog.
These are definitely challenging times that we are working through. However, despair leads us nowhere and we have to continue to move forward and remain strong and hopeful, not just for ourselves but for others as well. Life can feel like such a heavy load to bear at times, but I do believe that perseverance will eventually be rewarded. Hold on in there and keep an open mind for 2009.
Stay strong in the light -

Good to hear from you! That's a nice profile pic of you by the way.
Thanks for checking out the new song. I really appreciate your words of encouragement!
I didn't know how it would be received, but the response so far has been positive on the whole. In fact, the comments and feedback from people have been enough to make the effort I put into writing and recording the song seem worthwhile.
Myself, I am pleased with it. I feel it contains the passion that I was trying to convey. If, in some small way, the song can help towards inspiring and empowering someone to keep fighting for their dreams, then that will be a mission accomplished!
I hope you are enjoying the Easter break!
Until again ~ take care,
Kashy
