    Photo: Robert Hirschi.

In general, we LOVE creating couture corsets and gowns, costumes, jewelry and accessories. Naturally our interests always include finding cute girls to model them, like megacutie fitness model Shannon, below.

We have more to show you at tightlacer.com so come see!
We LOVE designing custom corsets, costumes, fetish clothing, masks, jewelry, gowns, hats, mascots and other amazing stuff. Our store currently sells the wearable creations of six area designers... and we're growing!

  • Music

We genre-hop alot while working in the shop (long hours, you know), but I like to rock out to lots of music your dad totally hates...T-Rex, Frank Black, Big Black, Black Flag, Pigface, NIN, Rapeman, Enon, Amps, KMFDM, Distillers, Gang of Four, Motorhead, XTC, Bumblebeez, The Cramps, Causey Way, 16 Volt, Snog, Liars, The Fall, Radio Berlin, Tenacious D, Alice Donut, Front 242, Iggy Pop, Peaches, TV on the Radio, Wesley Willis, Ima Robot, The Mae Shi, Fleetwood Mac (on the sly), Fat Boy Slim, Skinny Puppy, etc.

Below is my awesomely talented pal, Catalya, in a custom outfit I made for her - - she and her friends play the greatest hits of the past 500 years!!

Thanks to Kelly Ashkettle for the pic below, of my dancers in their combat tutus in the Dark Arts Fashion Show 2006.
Choreography: the unbelievably talented Annywyn Music: Aquabats' "Fashion Zombies". Photo: Kelly Ashkettle.
  • Movies

ALL movies! (Especially historic costume dramas, as you might imagine...)
  • Television

Tivo's awesome! So is TrueBlood, Deadwood (love those outfits), Rome, Generation Kill, Real Time with Bill Maher and more! Seems like we watch Adult Swim and Comedy Central a lot around my house too!

The nifty corset below was HAND PAINTED! You can have yours hand-painted, too, by artist and friend, Heron Hanson, or a bunch of other artists in our little cartel. Like the dead babies on the sides? I do!!

  • Books

Naturally we love ALL costume history books, fashion history books and magazines plus related neato things!
    The Corset
    Fetish
Steele is THE authority on these subjects because she sifts the many myths about corsets from the culturally and historically situated facts. Then for some real fun, if you want your brain fully colonized by aesthetic principles underlying perceptions of beauty, sexuality and personality (which naturally also inform corset fashions and their appeal), I recommend you read Camille Paglia’s Sexual Personae: Art & Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson.
Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertitti to Emily Dickinson
There will never be enough time for this- not even for the GoodReads list. But anyway, a few more old and new favorites:
The Empty Space by Peter Brook
I am totally psyched I had time to reread Peter Brook again this summer. Man, I love his bombastic personality and muscular muscular style! Add him to the people I'd most like to meet. Reading his book again was almost like a spiritual experience and gives me faith in what the theater is and can do.

As a person who used to think poetry was boring and that it was mostly taught and admired by boring teachers, I've now changed my mind, especially 'cuz Camille is an advocate of one reading poetry silently to oneself and appreciating the aesthetics on the printed page! As you'll recall, as Robert Heinlein's character 'Lazarus Long' once said, "A poet who reads his work aloud in public may have other bad habits." Nuthin' worse than poetry nights at the coffee shops-yeeeech! Mmmmmmm, Camile's book is some good readin! She totally brings out the kinesthetic reader in me!

This one sort of unexpectedly colonized my head, too. I used to feel pretty laid back and indifferent to or just tolerant of religious people, considering them benign but severely misguided, and that even includes all my wacky pagan, wiccan and new-agey friends out there who aren't any more rational than the mormons or southern bible-thumpers. Harris convinces me they're all actually quite dangerous and detrimental to our social well-being and I think he's correct (although I'll NEVER treat any nice person with anything else but the greatest kindness and respect, even if it's feigned). Sorry if my true views offend any of my religious friends out there, I just appreciate his arguments and evidence about the capriciousness and arbitrariness of Christian (or for that matter, ANY) doctrine- how many so-called fundamentalists cherry pick what they want when they want it, from our own home-grown far right radicals to the likes of Osama Bin Laden. Read it and then talk to me about it, k?
  • Heroes

This man above, and these two people below:

As for other heroes, well let's see: Al Swearengen, Frodo Baggins, Beavis, Sally Ride, Monika Treut, Midori, Jerzy Grotowski, Tallulah Bankhead, Dorothy Parker, Ru Paul, Margaret Sanger, Edith Head, Paolo Freire, Virginia Woolf, Camille Paglia.

I glean BIG time from Paglia's book, *Sexual Personae*, whenever I have to give a lecture with slides on the aesthetics of corsetry. She's one of the most muscular writers I've ever encountered plus a really interesting art/cultural theorist. It never fails, though, when I give a form of this presentation to a group of academics they just bristle. Oh well, fuk 'em.

And here is the beautiful Elisalyn!

Below are my two favorite live-action heroes, Maxaphone and Ra.

Below, some pix of one for the lovely Sister Sarah, of Beautiful Bozeman, MT. SHE is a gorgeous redhead and look how curvy this corset is- she's even curvier and she's teenier than the dress form shown here. Va Voom! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

  • Not real keen on musical theater anymore (did it for too many years) unless it's unusual, contemporary, in a cool period, or if you have a REAL budget. All interesting projects considered! Let's talk! Call me! 801-596-2210

  • Area designers WANTED! Come show/sell your work in our boutique and make $$$! Call us! 801-596-2210! We are usually on the lookout for models and dancers to show off our work for print and media projects, too!

  • Small film and performance projects: We love YOU! Most of our work is in this area, for special events, indie films, private clients and collectors. We make museum-replica items for period accuracy and beauty! We should collaborate!

WOW! Lyra Zoe! What a cutie!

Our specialties: Custom corsets and costumes for theater, film, dance, tradeshows and conventions, parties, business mascots, and um, your recreational fun. We are a goth, gentile, mormon, geek, gay, kink, bdsm, transgender AND capitalist friendly shop that aims to please.

Everything from mascots to tutus, ritual clothing to bridal and formal wear, even projects for interior and set designers, architects and space planners. We create some truly unusual items here.

The pics by Robert Hirschi below feature Lorrie, founder of Slippery Kittens Burlesque, in one of our custom corsets!

We are a friend to all belly dancers and burlesque artists, like Lorrie, below.

We're professionals. We respect, protect, and honor the privacy of ALL our clients and friends.

As you can see, we've made many corset-crazy friends here on Myspace, many of whom are also clients (and whom you can befriend yourself if you ask them and they agree), but our studio itself does NOT provide social networking services and WILL NOT hook you up with other corset enthusiasts, so please DON'T ask. If you are looking for friends in the BDSM or leather lifestyle, go out and find 'em on your own. They ARE out there and if ye seek ye shall find!

Just get your wish list together with a clippings file and any fabric you want incorporated, and get in here to see us!

Lookee here! More corsets, costumes and other neato stuff! http://mcgrewstudio.com/

Oddly enough, our studio ALSO makes costumes for furniture! http://www.mcgrewstudio.com/slip/

Below, so...who says fetish clothing always has to be BLACK? How about some color? Or in this case, in WHITE vinyl and pvc with plenty of rings, dog leash snaps, and hardware?

"I hear the voices, and I read the front page, and I know the speculation. But I'm the designer, and I design what is best. And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to wear a chartreuse corset with mauve side panels because they're optically slimming."

Interesting people - you know who you are: Corset cuties, performance artists, costume designers, costume technicians, fashion designers, artists, photographers, scientists, astronauts, bellydancers, professors, librarians, libertarians, vegetarians, vegans, monsters, helpful elves, pin-up girls and burlesque babes. People with money who get their jollies from supporting the arts. Those who are interested in and write about evolutionary psychology. Some alive, some dead:

Harlan Ellison, Camille Paglia, Edith Head, Dorothy Parker, Virginia Woolf, Barbara Stanwyk, Jane Mansfield, Richard Dawkins, William Shakespeare-
