About me: What does art mean to you? Does the mention of art automatically make you think “ancient”, like that dusty landscape painting hanging in your great-aunt’s dining room? Or a 7:15 a.m. Art History class?
Art is more than Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa or Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling or Monet’s water lilies.
Look around you. Art’s everywhere.
That design on your favorite, worn-out and oh-so-faded t-shirt? Art.
The funky image on Snow Patrol’s album cover? Art.
Even those goofed-out digicam pictures you took of your friends at last night’s party? Art.
Are you from the 2-0-6 or 4-2-5? When was the last time you hung out at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM)? Art Nerd, you’re answering, “Last Friday!” We loooove you. Or maybe you're the person who hasn't dropped by since your school tour in 2nd grade. And maybe, just maybe you're getting the slightest, tingly feeling that there might be something at one of the three SAM Museums to hold your attention longer than ten seconds (true).
What if we told you, the Art Nerds and the not-quite-convinced Art Nerds, both your presence makes the Museum? That you can be in it and help reinvent it. Think about a place with youth poetry slams, teen theater, high school art exhibitions, drop-in art activities, free teen art parties. That’s the Museum transformed. That’s SAM. Come and see for yourself!

Who: You! Teens ages 13-19
What: An evening of art, music and workshops designed just for teens. DJs will crank up the hottest sounds of today, professional artists from around town will help you find your inner artist, and you’ll get to meet tons of other cool people who will think you’re cool for being there.
When: ARTattack will be a blast on May 8th 6-9pm, 2009 at SAM downtown. So be there! May 8:6-9pm!
