be immersed in ethereal, genre-bending vocal performances from a unique and soulful songstress who combines power with pimp, defiance with the delectable, lounge with la-di-da.
depending on the flavour of the occasion, ranging from electrohouse vocal fusion through intelligent nu-cool-jazz to classical soliloquy.
a deliriously elastic ensemble of music players and light painters which redefines the performance space in various private niches, late venues and public spaces, with performances that last from five minutes to several days.
performances may be low key or thoroughly dramatic, ideally seeking to transform spaces using technology, texture and architecture as a form of creative commentary to satisfy the bard, the elemental healer, the wheeler and dealer, the community feeler and this questing sheila!
i began singing before i was born. i sang anything and everything to begin with. becoming bardic, i wrote relentlessly. at twelve, i found a 'marriage of figaro' score in the music library and took to opera. studying and performing became my focus.
later, hearing beats and electronica, i found myself feeling conflicted and contradicted by straight classical music, and it was mixed up with a nagging feeling that i wasn't singing, or indeed living, from a truthful place, that most of the time i just wasn't fully 'resonating', and i knew the difference because sometimes, spontaneously, the openness came and then eluded me again, leaving that aching.
to aspire to be in that zone always, to find the space where i can live from that vibration...apart from the joy it gives me to live from such a place (and we aren't just talking about singing here but the expression part of flow), the effect it has on others is pretty much pure love manifesting without words, without trying.
i sang professionally throughout Australia for several years and then during a particularly fierce questing time i finally plucked up the nerve to leave, drove lazily up to darwin in my car, a witchy-hand-me-down with a great travelling history, from my best girlfriend, and flew off to backpack through South East Asia.
when i returned to perth the universal guiding hand manifested an audition for a technooperatic story being developed in germany, which was kind of unique at the time. i was hooked. so i travelled again, this time to perform throughout europe, always checking in on this fusion between my operatic background and dance, tribal and jazz styles, working towards a unique, vibrant and ethereal sound with various orchestras, contemporary muso's, bands and producers. i have performed technooperatic treats at many Festivals, including Love Parades, Cannes Film Festival, Lake Geneva and Glastonbury Festival.
i love collaborating with others to develop new soundscapes and artworks applicable to a variety of settings. and i'm curious about our individual personal state of being and our relationship with community, how these two things reflect one another, which in turn reflects on our relationship with our environment, and on a personal level, particularly our natural environment... and i'm endlessly inspired by nature and the cycle of life and living breath. incidentally, i had a wonderful water birth with my daughter who is now almost at school and we used Interuterion (see my player) as a powerful calming tool to aid a beautiful drug free labour.
i also present workshops for small groups and teach privately as a resonance guide. becoming transparent is the key. breathing through that clarity and truthfulness is expansive. there is definitely a glow in the flow. lessons can be conducted over distance. get in touch to find out how.
i continue my own personal education in private, extending my understanding of where etheric meets physical, where intuition meets intention.
i also support workshops in the realm of sound healing, physical theatre, and visual jockery!
....FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our fourth LP release...
LEILA ADU has been described as 'A Nina Simone for the Noughties', and her two acclaimed albums infuse a broadly 'art-rock' approach with elements of torch song, speakeasy blues, avant garde jazz, gamelan, post-rock textures, and a David Lynch style dreamlike b-movie melodrama. As her website has it, exploring the "dissonant edges of familiar forms", but with that kind of 'dissonance' that they once accused Thelonious Monk or Debussy of, the kind that soon betrays it's own compelling melodic and harmonic logic to the attentive listener...
'Dark Joan', Leila's third album as a solo artist, was recorded in Chicago with the legendary Steve Albini (PJ Harvey, Joanna Newsome, Nirvana, Pixies), and Albini's genius has been to strip her sound back to it's essence, and hold it's most distinctive qualities up to the light. It doesn't hurt that this is by far Leila's most powerful set of songs to date, and if anything we are lead even deeper into her world by the pictures painted with just piano (or in some cases harpsichord or a grime-encrusted electric piano) and that voice...
Capable of anything from delicate heartbreaking purity to a fearsome dramatic power, her powers are seemingly limitless, yet unlike most other singers of her calibre, never does she resort to melodrama or show-boating, or any kind of pastiche, instead she employs her resources fully in the expression of her distinctive musical vision and the deep well-spring of her imagination. Nothing ever sounds as though it could have not been sung...
Adviruz is the artist psedonym of Istanbul’s Pinar Gurcan, whose growing passion for sound is translated through her music. Since an early age, she has been listening and mimicking opera singers, writing melodies, songs and poems in which she spoke her mind and reflected her soul. All of which are evident on "Nightly Sounds", an 8 track album which is the equivilent of having a glimpse into a diary, learning of love lost, gained, a snapshot of the human condition from which we can all draw experience... All of these things are developed musically into minimalistic glitch, noise, idm, experimental music and microsounds, its influences reminiscent of work by artists like Tujiko Noriko, Mira Calix, Plaid and Björk.
Adviruz and Section 27 present "Nightly Sounds", an intricately woven and rewarding musical tapestry. Available now for free download.
To celebrate our first 27 releases on Section 27 Netlabel, we proudly present to you "Sectioned", a compilation of 27 tracks, amounting to 2 hours across two discs of twisted electronic beats, discordant melodies, haunting passages, broken ambience, bending senses of time and space, microscopic glitches, pounding bass frequencies, sounds between sounds, the human voice and the audible sensation of music dissolving in acid. This is the sound of your mind's eye. This is the sound of the Sectioned... Strap yourself in and enjoy the experience.
Also features a 75 minute bonus disc "Sectioned : Nonimxs", including 9 remixes of selected Section 27 artists by Nonima and 2 original tracks created by Silent Snow and Nina Kardec using existing Nonima tracks.
Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcast day, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
。☆* Hi .. Hope alls well with you ,,i thought i would post the player again as it has 10 new vids now and free downloads available for fans. Hope you enjoy 〩 and Hope you have a great day!!Best Regards from Erik The Viking

....FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our third LP release...
"Anutha Kinda Brotha" is the debut LP from underground legend ART TERRY. Since moving to the UK from his native Los Angeles in the early 90s, Mr Terry has established himself as one of London's characters.
Describing Art's sound to the uninitiated usually involves debunking some of the stereotypes of what the 'typical' black Californian might play. Despite his jazz training, and coming of age to the sounds of classic soul and funk, these styles are only a part of his musical vision. His fascination with folk styles, classical music, punk rock, pure pop, easy listening, musical theatre and the European avant garde have taken him on different paths from most...
The result is an orchestral pop record full of sonic inventiveness, whether it's the blend of Shuggie Otis's 60s California and Sun Ra's ancient Egypt on 'Bible', Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons leading a mariachi band on 'Escort', or the Walt Disney music box orchestra of 'Miss Dominatrix', but whilst this is very much a sonic feast, we shouldn't overlook Art's extraordinary lyrical adeptness, and the distinctive character this brings to the proceedings, with a knack for unique and colourful imagery, and how like a great short story writer he is able to paint an engaging picture whilst keeping back from casting judgement on his characters, always leaving open ends for the listener to tie; giving us the feeling that however far astray someone might have gone, there is always sympathy and human feeling for them in Art's mind...

....FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our first official LP release...
"It's Not The Wand, It's The Magic" is the debut release from AUGUST, the London based band centred around the songwriting partnership between vocalist VEDINA MOSE and multi-instrumentalist / producer RAPHAEL MANN (MR HUDSON / JOY JOSEPH / ART TERRY), with master drummer CLEAN CUT MARK and clarinetist / vocalist MAREE CHOIE completing the core line-up, and a supporting cast including ART TERRY (keyboards), SHOHEI KAWAMOTO (AKA Japanese producer Baraki, Bass clarinet, soprano sax and flute), and KAI HOFFMAN (French horn)
Always an act that juggled a diverse set of influences, the album has been compared to artists as diverse as KATE BUSH, PRINCE, DE LA SOUL, SLY STONE, MADLIB, SERGE GAINSBOURG and THE DELFONICS, for its concoction of wild experimentation and traditional song craft, organic production and futuristic electronic touches, funk bass & drums and jazz & orchestral references, infectious melodies and lyrical flights of fancy...with nods towards classic soul, JB funk, Studio One, 60s pop, psychedelia, left field hip hop, new wave, doo wop, tropicalia, high life, & avant garde jazz, without any song ever fitting squarely into any of those categories...new music, basically...and an instant classic!
"It's Not The Wand, It's The Magic" can be downloaded now from the iTunes Store
The album is also available on heavyweight vinyl LP in a sumptuous gatefold sleeve, or on Digipack CD from www.FrizzRecords.com & all good retailers
