It?s easy to confuse Sam Marquart?s pop/urban sound with some of the best in the music biz. Her Fergie-like voice blended with hot beats, reminiscent of Justin Timberlake, will get your heart pounding and your body bumping on the dance floor.
Sam was born in Milwaukee, WI but currently resides in Malibu, CA where she is a senior at Pepperdine University. Sam?s father encouraged her love for music at an early age as the former drummer for Flock of Seagulls and Alias, giving Sam the opportunity fuel her passion at his Virginia Beach recording studio, Windmark Recording. The famed production duo, The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) did a majority of their work out of Windmark bringing in big name artists such as Justin Timberlake. Sam was able to sit in on the sessions of Justin Timberlake, and others, thus helping her learn the inner workings of the recording industry. During high school, Sam joined choirs, performing art camps and dance classes, as she found an interest in all forms of entertainment. She sang at nearly every basketball game and football game in high school and in Nashville at an NHL hockey game as a junior. Alongside her singing/songwriting, Sam is also an accomplished dancer, specializing in hip-hop, bringing her live performance to an entirely different level.
Currently, Sam is recording new songs at her dad?s studio with her producer, KO. She has performed at such prestigious venues as The Roxy in Hollywood and The Malibu Inn.
With much success already under her belt, Sam is ready for the big leagues. Her drive and determination are unparalleled and her sound, exciting and refreshing. Of her attitude, Sam says, ?I stay focused on the music and I don?t get caught up in the world that comes with it.? Sam is, without a doubt, a talent to watch for in the coming year.
