Carry On - Duet with Kyle Riabko (written by Kyle Riabko):

Influences

Jonny Lang, John Mayer, Eva Cassidy, KT Tunstall, India.Arie, Kyle Riabko, Amos Lee, Susan Tedeschi, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson, Ray Charles, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joss Stone, Paolo Nutini, Damien Rice, Toby Lightman, Gavin DeGraw, Joni Mitchell, Josh Groban, Marvin Gaye, The Black Crowes, Led Zeppelin (acoustic stuff), City and Colour, Tegan and Sara, and RUTHIE FOSTER

I listen to a bunch of different artists...too many to name all of them! I think that I've drawn at least a tiny bit of influence from each of the artists I've listened to, and I'm always looking for new music to listen to. There is good music of every genre!
Sounds LikeWhat do I sound like? I sound like Samantha Schultz. (a girl with a voice, that seems old compared to what she really is, playing folk/roots/blues music with some soul....)

Samantha Schultz Singer, Songwriter, and Musician.

Samantha Schultz is 17 and was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She began singing at the age of three and has continued to grow and practice her talents ever since. Her instrument of choice for accompaniment is her acoustic 6 string guitar and has been playing since she was eleven.

In November of 2006, Samantha was the youngest nominee in the "Young Performer of the Year" category for the Canadian Folk Music Awards. In July of 2006, she was a featured performer at The Vancouver Island Musicfest where she got to share stages with the likes of Po' Girl, Alexis Puentes, Peter Yarrow, Joel Fafard and Geoff Berner. She also performed at South Country Fair. In 2005, she was invited to play as a Tweener on the Main Stage at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. She's had many opportunities to perform at different venues such as the Family Stage at Big Valley Jamboree, the Full Moon Folk Club, The Blue Chair Cafe, and the Northern Lights Folk Club in Edmonton and the Nickelodeon Music Club in Calgary. Samantha adds to her credits opening for such artists as Ruthie Foster, Kyle Riabko, Lynn Miles, Gaye Delorme, Doug Cox & Sam Hurrie, Karla Anderson and Cindy Church to critical acclaim.

Samantha's talent in playing guitar is only surpassed by her ability to wrap her bright, soulful voice around an existing tune or showcase her own songs. Samantha writes her own lyrics and music, and has a range of subject matter far exceeding her young years. Her debut CD is now available.

Most active in the local folk/blues/roots community, this versatile young artist is working to find her niche; for now she has settled on the folk/blues/soul genres. She can rock you with her powerful vocals or move you to tears with a quiet ballad. She has a remarkable ability to connect with audience members of all ages, and steal the show. Samantha continues to hone her craft by performing at open stages around the city, and bigger events in and outside of Edmonton. The sky is the limit for this up and coming artist.

okay, now that you've read the super crazy professional bio about me, let me tell you a bit about myself from my point of view! i am a germafina...or a cross between filipina (the female way to say that you're filipino haha) and german. i listen to pretty much anything and everything, except hardcore rap, really twangy country, and screaming death metal (maybe some 80s stuff...), and i'm really not all that fond of pop princess music. i'm a pretty mellow soul, but stick me with a bunch of my good friends, or super talented musicians, or any other awesome situation, and you'll have yourself a pretty outgoing gal. i love to do things that any other person would love to do: movies, going to the mall, reading, doodling, volleyball, going out with friends, going to concerts of all sorts...tons more. and, i love to laugh...it's good for you!

my music is on the slower side, with the occasional song that tends to be different from the rest, but it's always changing and always growing. i love it when people write their own music and/or songs. kudos to who ever can do that...it's not easy, i definitely can say that from experience! i've met so many cool people in the few years i've been in the music biz. check out the slideshow of people on my page...there are some uber talented people on there! and did i mention? i am a proud endorser of dot on shaft guitars and l.r. baggs pick ups! check out the pic of me and the lovely acoustic in my pics! they're also in my top friends so check them out!! music is such a huge part of my life, and i really don't know what i would do without it...i know that i'd be really bored...definitely. haha...

i'm friendly overall, and can be really shy depending if i'm first meeting someone or if i don't know the person very well...so if i DO meet you, don't sweat the awkward moments, haha! but i guess that's me in a nutshell. drop me a line and if you have any questions, i will answer if i can...it tends to get super busy on this end, but i'll do my best to answer your comments and messages! ciao!!

Help Me Understand: featuring Emily Schultz, my 13 year old sister!

Singing Amos Lee's song Dreamin' with Steve Marriner at the Blue Chair Café...good times!

How are you mate? Still waiting to hear about your Australian tour .....can't be too far off eh??
By the look of your gigs it sounds like a great music scene where you live, I'm actually putting on a festival myself over here in October with 10 acts made up of my musical buddies, should be fun.
Anyhow, hope you and your family are great...mine are growing up fast (too fast) but all is good!
