Samata’s Muse is a designer clothing label based in London specialising in the production of edgy fashion pieces for women. Our clothing label is borne out of the belief that what we wear and how we feel in our clothes can affect the way we feel about ourselves - if even for a moment or day. The label was created by Cambridge born designer Samata Angel, whose work in the fashion industry includes Head of Marketing for a Japanese clothing label and Head of PR for Kings Road boutique, Elival Fashion Incubator. In addition, she has also participated in events such as the Face of Asia, Clothes Show Live, Festival of Youth Arts (in association with the Mayor of London), UK Urban Fashion Awards and many more. In 2006 she scooped the UK Urban Fashion Award for Best Couture Line and was nominated as ‘Exceptionally Creative’ at the British Female Inventor and Innovator Awards 2007. Samata has been dressing women in stunning pieces for over 5 years with her signature edgy style, focusing on trends that have not been set. The designer works with a range of luxury fabrics such as chiffon, satin and raw silk and uses beading, netting and layering techniques to create eye-catching pieces. Samata’s Muse has already gained support from a variety of bases including London and New York and she showed an amazing collection in NY’s Nolcha Fashion Week. In 2007 Samata Angel was also nominated for the Aristoc Woman of the Year 2007 Award and is currently nominated for Cosmopolitan’s Ultimate Women of the Year 2008. In December 2007 Samata traveled to Sierra Leone with recording artist Sway DaSafo, MTV’s ‘Making the Band 4’ star Dawn Angelique Richard and others for a music festival to raise funds for a community development project. Samata's Muse has been featured in magazines and newspapers such as Look Magazine (UK), Pride Magazine, New Nation and on websites such as Concrete Loop, Fashion Capital and Fashion Africa. To date Angel counts Jenny Holloway, Terry Mansfield and Charles Thompson (Screen Nation Film & TV Awards) as her mentors. Samata Angel has written a guide book called 'The Emerging Clothing Designer's Guide To Making It Happen' which will be published in 2008. The book offers advice to emerging fashion designers in the fields of marketing, promoting, manufacturing, setting up, money management and other important areas.
