my name's samax (pronounced suh MAX). yeah, it's my real name. i draw, paint, make comics and talk noise. i love you, but you make me sick too...
i'm passionate about the things and people that matter to me, but i detach from everything else. i live by selling my art, selling products made from my art, and selling my ability to make art. when that doesn't work, i take odd jobs (that i'd rather not be doing) to make the proverbial ends meet. point being, the key to a happy life for me is getting paid to make art. so if you ask me to do something for free, i will politely ignore you. brotha got bills... i believe in God, and i believe in Jesus, but i don't care for religion so much anymore. i try to get back to basics as much as i can, love people the best way i can, and try to honor God with my life. to me, that takes the form of doing what God put me here to do, which among other things, means making art. i guess i'll either die for my art, or become a household name. maybe both...

here's a samplin' of what i got right now:
Dare! the Adventures of Darius DavidsonDare is my "baby"... it's an action adventure comic that takes place in a world much like ours, BUT with superheroes, monsters, mad scientists, and other assorted dangerous junk like that...
Darius is not a superhero per se (at least not yet!)... he has no powers, special training, or high-tech doodads. still, he may be the greatest hero the world has ever seen! why? simply because he's not afraid... of ANYTHING!!! it's surprising how many of life's limits are self-imposed because of fear... but having no fear isn't always the free ride Dare would like it to be.
anyways you can get caught up here, and expect more updates as news pops up, as i have BIG plans for the little man with the big hair: in the works now is "Shook" the long-awaited Dare origin story, which will be followed by "Beef" a tribute to (among other things) the Nas-Jay animus (where Dare goes head-up with super-vigilante JiggaWatt), and "Chosen"...
Manchild: Birthday BoyManchild:Birthday Boyis the first in a short series of graphic novels i plan to do. Inspired by my fascination with manga, hip hop and social issues, i can honestly say that by the time this series of books is done, it will be the most violent, disturbing and mind-bending thing i have ever done. that said, it's gonna take a while... go here to read what i got so far...
Champion of Children
Champ is the result of the most satisfying collaboration of my young comics carreer. as part of ghostWerks comics, i got to contribute to what will surely be a houshold name, in Champion of Children,
a comic about kid superheroes. Champ stars Little Madd Skillz, the latest kid hero to hold the proud title of Champion of Children (the hero all other young heroes defer to...). Maddy (she hates being called that, but i do anyways!) is 5 years old, and using the venerable Pure Skillz technique of martial arts, fights evil like nobody's bidness!
the book also features her friends and family, almost all of whom are heroes themselves (she's seen here with her Moms, former Champion Big Madd Skillz),in a comic as much about family, friendship and growth spurts as it is abouthellacious butt-kicking!
it's a book for kids, but so far, we have as many adult fans as kids! for the low, peep what we got so far at the (still under construction) website www.ChampionOfChildren.com, and confidentially, my man Corance has handed me a script for new Champ mini, Secret Scrolls, that is bananas!!!
i'd like to work on comics full time, so a publisher who can pay enough to support my minimal lifestyle and will cover expenses for me to travel to promote books, would be nice. (Dare and Manchild are c. and tm 2007 samax [f.u.p.m.], champion of Children c. and tm 2007 the mighty ghostWerks crew... so don't even TRY it...)holla!
