About me:

A Kwakawaka aw, Cree, Nisga, Coast Salish. Born and raised in East Vancouver, BC. Moved to Tsulquate Reserve, GwaSala-Nawaxdaxw Nation (Port Hardy B.C). Obtained her grade 12 Diploma and Graduated from Douglas College with a Diploma in Criminology and Associates of Arts Degree. Currently Ms. Amaya hold many roles within the Vancouver Community, a Support worker with St. James Community Services Society, working with Women & Children in the Downtown Eastside with Homelessness, Poverty, Addictions, HIV/AIDS, Mental Health and those suffering from Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Sexual Abuse. Suzette Amaya is also the Creator & Producer/Host of the Award-winning - widely listened to, Radio Show ThinkNDN 102.7fm CFRO, With ThinkNDN Radio Suzette has interviewed/associated many Aboriginal Public Figures & Artists. ThinkNDN 102.7fm is Aired Mondays 8-9pm Listen Online at http://www.coorpadio.org S. Amaya, also is the Owner and Photographer of SAMAYA Photography & SAMAYA Entertainment, where she produces an annual Aboriginal Calendar featuring Aboriginal Role Models in British Columbia as well as a Freelance Photographer for local newspapers and magazines. Suzette Amaya is also known for being Vancouver’s Successful Freelance Aboriginal Events Coordinator/Publicist for Special Events, Concerts, Fashion Shows and Conferences, and Producer of Vancouver’s First Cross Boarder Aboriginal Hip Hop Cd Compilation “Settin’ Tha Precedence” Volume 1&2. Ms. Amaya has been facilitating workshops for Youth, within the Greater Vancouver Area and BC-wide, Her desire and passion is to motivate and explore the issues Aboriginal young people face and offer alternatives in carving the paths to individual future plans to ensure healthy well being and pride in being Indigenous Peoples.
