Hi Sam, sorry I am late with this. I am still learning a lot of this recording stuff too, but I notice that even adding a little delay or reverb to the mix just before limiting really adds body and space to the mix. I use 2 M-audio 1010LT cards for a total of 16 inputs at once in a computer I built for recording and use Sonar pro 7 for editing along with about $5000 in various pro plug-ins. Expensive hobby. In your case, I would find out what processors you have and read the manuals. I use Waves plug-ins and their manuals are the best for learning about recording. They use real world examples ane even tell you what frequencies are what. You can check em out on their site: http://www.waves.com/ Always start small. A little does a lot. Compression, a little eq(linear phase preferably), Reverb/delay and a little limiting to bring the volume up is all I really do. My friend Eric is bringing over two acoustic guitars and I will probably put at least 5 mics on them. That way I can pan different mics and get all kinds of sounds from the same mix. Hope this helps.
Hey Sam! Great accustics! Nice songs! You'll make it I'm sure! Thanks for the friendship! Really appreciate it! My songs ” Song 4 my kids & Time for Leaving” are now available at the iTunes Music Store! Peace & love!
