Based in Portland, OR., brothers and studio producers/engineers Sam and John Densmore comprise the creative core of the psychedelic americana band called Silverhawk. Together with drummer Rob Allison (Two Ton Boa, Underthings, Bipolar Star) and a rotating cast of instrumentalists, they create a striking sound that can't be ignored. With hundreds of songs to choose from, the live shows are like listening to all your favorite songs on the jukebox. Silverhawk plays like rock n roll with passion and the musical familiarity that is only present in a family band. They are often compared to Modern Lovers, Pavement, and the Beatles.
The Densmore bros. have been playing music together since 1992. They've been in 3 different bands together; Slow Children, Frequency db, and Silverhawk. They have toured the entire west coast from Los Angeles to Bellingham. Highlights have included shows with Frank Black, Carrie Akre, IQU, Pond, Richmond Fontaine, Krist Novaselic, Harvey Danger, Screaming Trees, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Floater, Travis Ward and the Junkyard Bandstand, and the Posies.
Silverhawk has nationally released one EP (Flowers in June, Pop Sweatshop, 2001), one video (Keeping it Surreal, Mastan Music, 2001). and one full length CD (Westward, Blue Eyed Crow, 2004) Both CDs have attracted national press attention including reviews in CMJ, Delusions of Adequecy and Amplifier Magazines.
Silverhawk is currently preparing to master "Hangover Bicycle Ride" at MastanMusic Studio in Portland, OR. The music will be released slowly as digital singles and EPs throughout the remainder of 2006 and into 2007, culminating with a full length compilation soon. This album is a collection of "Psychededlic Party Rock" inspired by drug addicts/dealers, crazy people, sex, and other unseemly things.
