About william luke johnson

he approaches the microphone
with nervous sweat as his persona unfolds
as the only items that are truly his, his own truths
are released from his mind unto those he does not know
his hands and tongue move like pistons in sloppy syncopation
his throat boils nails and a toxic glue of broken poetry spurts forth
from the mouth of a boy who knows where none of his answers come from
speaking the gospel of the broken the forgotten the framed and the guilty
a very frightened creature standing naked before the anticipant crowd
a vessel of words and thoughts and sounds and movement
the only thing he knows how to do
is the one thing that scares him to death

sent from the ghosts of sirens long forgotten
funneled down into the roots of beauty
strained through the stars that puncture the sky
pulled from the yellowed pages of a worn out diary
laid to rest beside the muse that will travel on

the sacred songs that cross all bounds
are needed more now than ever before
