Brought up in the bayous of South Louisiana, Cajun Zydeco music was taught to him by his musician father and became a way of life. He started playing professionally at the age of 13 when he put together a band with his brother ands friends to play parties and fundraisers. They still get together to play functions today 25 years later. Sammy has recorded with toured with many bands and musicians including the world renowned Rusty Kershaw. Playing for celebrity parties and functions led to him recording soundtracks for commercials, movies and television shows. You may have heard his music on the television series “The Big Easy.”In between touring Sammy played on
Bourbon Street in New Orleans nightly for the last 22 years and was playing until the night before Hurricane Katrina hit. After the storm he relocated to the Finger Lakes region of central New York where he played in the Rochester, Buffalo, and Ithaca regions and wowed the crowds with his Cajun Zydeco sounds of Louisiana.
Sammy has since moved back to Louisiana and recently released “After the Storm” with Waylon Thibodeaux and Timmy Molinere. You can catch his show each Thursday through Sunday at Poppa Joe’s Beach Club at the corner of Bourbon and Toulouse in New Orleans.
