Sam Reider, jazz pianist and vocalist, is currently a second year student at Columbia University in New York.
Uptown Trio, consisting of Sam on Piano, Jeff Picker on Bass, and Jake Goldbas on drums released its first album entitled "Without Strings" last month. Uptown Trio's summer 2008 west-coast tour took them from Washington State down through L.A. The trio perform at Yoshi's SF, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, and Catalina's Jazz Club along the way.
In May Reider was interviewed on Marian McPartland's award-winning NPR show "Piano Jazz". The program which has showcased artists from Ray Charles to Oscar Peterson to Norah Jones will air in December.
