    Birthed in an industrial warehouse, Samson Y Hiss exited the womb to the noise of factory machines. The pulsating rhythms of steel stamping and grinding were insinuated into his being, expanding his mind and growing his limbs. At the age of 13, he was finally permitted to go outside. Having never seen the sun, he cringed when the doors opened and the naked light sprang to his face. Falling in despair, he suddenly heard something that shattered all he'd ever experienced—the sublime sound of crows cooing. He was in awe. A new world of sounds was laid before him, and the options for pitch manipulation, dissonant realization, and repeating minors became endless. ..Samson Y Hiss spent his formative years studying piano and performance at the Olympia Piano Academy in Olympia, WA—which has since disbanded. Mr. Hiss holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology from Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY where he studied classic and jazz guitar. He studied world music at the International School of Music in Salzburg, Austria, the place where he fell in love with the power and majesty of the cathedral organ. His undergrad teachers in composition include Richard Burchard, Todd Hildreth, David George, and Ron Hayden. His current composition instructor is the ruthless Belinda Reynolds from Noe Valley Hills. ..Mr. Hiss began teaching keyboard to children and female prisoners in Detroit, MI. Future psychological experiments of this type are underway. Samson Y Hiss has lived in Oakland, CA since 2009. ..All works to be published exclusively.
