HeroesMY DAD. He was always someone I could count on. He never tried to make himself a hero or a white knight to anyone but he was all of that to me. I remember one day when I was about 9 I was playing at a friend's house and a woman in the house next door came out screaming that her baby was choking and was turning blue. Dad, by the grace of God, just happened to be coming up the road. We stopped dad in the middle of the road (he just left the car running) and dad ran in, pulled the baby up by its feet, reached into its mouth and pulled out a small piece of plastic wedged in its throat. The woman wouldn't quit screaming so dad told my friend's grandmother to slap her in the face with a wet rag. That worked. I remember it like it was yesterday. He saved the baby, went home, sat down, stuck a cigar in his mouth and started reading newspaper like nothing had ever happened. And didn't say a word about it to anyone. If people consider me to be like him then that makes me very proud.

   Sam Yerardi's Blurbs
About me:
I am a 54 year old Christian man that loves God, his family, his guitar and his music. I love all kinds of music, and I am partial to anything based on guitar. Especially solo acoustic guitar. I am very fortunate to have some good friends that have stuck with me and supported me through hard times. I am a Pisces which I suppose makes me a sensitive person. I used to think that was a weakness but I've learned it is a strength that I'm glad I have.
Who I'd like to meet:
When my time is done, God, My dad in heaven, Steve Bowles as well, On this earth, Old friends that I haven't seen in some time, Earl Klugh, Bela Fleck, Morgan Freeman, Robin Williams I ran into a friend the other day that hadn't seen in 42 years! I told him the last time I saw him it was 1965 in a playground at Holy Redeemer school in Portsmouth, Ohio. he actually hadn't changed much. It was a pleasant surprise for someone with very tired eyes.

My twin sister is getting married this weekend, and I get to give her away!

To my sister Mary,
I want to wish you love, the best of everything, and I wish you happiness. You have been through a lot in your life and you have found that special someone. God has been watching you and I know He has so much good in store for you. I've always worried about you and tried to look out for you ever since I pulled your hair for the first time in the baby crib. And I remember it like it was yesterday. God bless you and have a life of happiness.
Your 'younger' brother,
Sammy

Been in Cincinnati all week so I haven't played guitar for over a week. Been praying a lot this week. Just some things in my life. I'm not sure if anyone actually reads my comments (I'm the only one that posts them) so I may be talking to myself. If you read this please just say a prayer for me.

Played in Columbus the other night with some members of the Ohio Fingerstyle Guitar Club. Had something really special happen. I was playing a number by myself and the other guitarists joined in. I was completely focused on playing and had my head down. The song I was playing (a Chet Atkins number - Oh By Jingo) has a very fast intricate picking pattern and a sudden abrupt ending. When I finished all of a sudden there was this huge applause. I looked up and there was this large crowd of people in addition to the ones already there that apppeared out of nowhere while I had my head down. I was taken totally by surprise but it was a great surprise.

Played at a great benefit the other night for Sarah McVey. There were probably 10-11 groups/singers there and I feel honored to have been able to play.
I got some good news from my dear friend Steve Dawes in Florida. The praise team at his church is adding my songs 'There Is No Way' and 'Jesus You Reign On High to their service's song list. I feel honored and blessed! Thanks, Steve!!

Saw a great concert last night - Eddie Money. Lot of great music, lot of good memories. He had an absolute killer guitar player from Lucasville!. Never heard of the guy but he was probably the best lead guitarist I have heard in years. I think the drummer was from Lucasville too. Eddie did some great 60's material and then blew me away with a Ray Charles number. I saw 'Ray' the other night for the first time and it was a great movie. How can you beat Ray Charles?

I want to thank everyone that came over Saturday to listen to me play. It means a lot to me. Saturday was a lot of fun and I got to see an old friend , Matt. Even got a free Reuben & chicken noodle soup dinner from the restaurant. Can't beat that. Thanks Matt for helping with the equipment!! Like old times, huh? I won't be playing next weekend unless my schedule changes but I should be back the following week. I got a call the other night to play for a benefit concert in a couple weeks and yesterday got a request to play for a party at Market Street Cafe near the end of September so maybe God has some good things in store for me.

I had a great time Saturday playing at the Market Street Cafe!! I had a list of 73 songs to play and still ended up repeating some of them! Spiritual, jazz, classical, pop and my own songs. Since it is a restaurant environment, I kept the mood of the music subdued a bit but here and there cut loose on some faster tunes. I read once that if you play fast, they'll eat fast... and if you play real real fast, then they'll eat real real fast... Or if you play something that has a lot of tension in it, you'll make them tense :). So I kept it on an even keel :)... Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and the staff kept telling me how much they liked it so that made me feel good. My mom was talking to a woman from Georgia earlier and she said she knew me and enjoyed listening to me play before. Mom couldn't remember her name and I have no idea who it was... Anyway, it makes me feel good when people appreciate my music. I played two new songs I wrote called "Walking With My Jesus" and "Tappin' the Night Away". I got a lot of good comments on them. Of course, I played a lot of Beatles tunes. It was amazing - - when I started playing 'Yesterday' the whole room went silent... You just can't lose with a Beatles song. I'm playing again this Saturday around 12:30 so drop by if you get hungry and want to hear some guitar music...

I NOW HAVE A MANDOLIN!! A dear friend of mine Jim Rowland (from WPAY fame) builds mandolins and guitars and I stopped over at his house the other night and chatted for a while. Hadn't seen him in probably 20 years. Played guitar for a while on one of his beautiful instruments. I needed some inspiration because I'm back into guitar building. Before I left he said 'wait a minute - - I've got something for you...'. He handed me a beautiful mandolin and said learn how to play it and then come back and teach me! LOL THANKS JIM - - WILL DO!

I'm also teaching guitar now so I've been getting back into reading music again. Been a long time... Anyway it's a good excuse to get some new music.
I've written two new acoustic numbers and one of them I'm going to play at church as soon as I can remember the verses from the choruses :)... If I can ever get an mp3 copy of them I'm going to post them.

Last night - THE RETURN!! WOW! Somehow we got a couple of the best seats in the house - 3rd row center. I had a blast! Dancin', singing, just having a great time. The Beatles are my all-time favorite band and always will be and the Return simply nailed it. Brought back so many memories. Got tears in my eyes when they played Yesterday. Got to see a lot of old friends. A great evening with a lot of great friends, some of whom I haven't seen in years.
