SANCTIFY HER DEATH was spawned in late 2007 by Built Upon Frustration guitarist Derek Kovacs and Passover singer Jack Wright. Kovacs and Wright were determined to start another band sounding unlike any of the previous bands in which they played. After a few line-up changes, the two recruited bassist Matt Sabbath and drummer Matt Kleeman. SHD immediately got to writing and a three song demo hit the streets a few weeks later. After a little more identity searching, the band started down the inevitable path of heaviness. The sound evolved into a destructive mixture of Hardcore, Death, Thrash and Grind which would quickly establish the band as a force to be reckoned with in the world of underground heavy music. In August of 2008, SHD recorded it's first full-length CD entitled "Lacerations" which came out on guitarist Derek Kovacs' own indie label, FFTC Records. Wright left the band in 2009 and was replaced by current vocalist Stefan Nitsch. SHD quickly got back into the studio and recorded a follow-up 5 song EP "Murderous Deities", released in October 2009. Lyrically presenting subject matter of everything from self loathing to mind control of politics and religion, this band is not for the faint of heart. Prepare to be cut in half.
