  • Bio

There is sometimes a part of magic and unexplainable in the creation of things, and Sand could well be part of these mysterious phenomenons. Story-tellers, musicians, shamans, genius, Sand were at the end of the sixties P.O.T. (Part of Time), the tracks created at that time having never been released till now. .... Two different approaches prevail with this band, the first being avant-gardist experimental proto-industrial with the compositions of the trio Ludwig Papenberg and his brother Ulrich Papenberg, and Johannes Vester. The second of the same trio augmented with a few more members has a more rock side in the vein of The piper at the Gates of Dawn from Pink Floyd, making it less personal than the visionnary experimental position characteristic of Sand, an entire and unique entity in the story of music and records. At that time, Klaus Schulze was developing a special recording process with engineer Manfred Schunke called Artificial Head Stereo Sound, which like Surround Sound created the illusion of the sound coming from everywhere. Schulze chose Sand to record one of a series of records that would demonstrate the special recording studio. In 1974 the album Golem was recorded and released on the Delta-Acustic label. Sand says that Manfred Schunke and Klaus Schulze were the great mentors of Sand. .... Although classed because of the tendency to make affiliations, Sand is not dependant of a classical krautrock style, though part of this wave of german cosmic psychedelic bands. It is also the genesis of industrial musics, taking us on a cerebral-cosmic-strange-dark trip all at once, with a highly original finesse, elegance and strength. Trapped in the trip, swallowed up by the quicksands, charmed by the unique and never heard before combination of acoustic guitars, synthesizers, sound generators, short-wave-radios, factory-noises, hammers from the dockyards, agricultural machines, whirls of sand and eerie atmosphere, the listener discovers and lives the story of Sand and his Golem, their unique album released till now. Julian Cope says in his Album of the month: « Dig this fucking weird Saxony sound and fill your heart. » .... rotorelief releases from 2010 a series of new albums from Sand along with releases from Nurse with Wound and Current 93. This series of albums from Sand is called « INXOM », one letter for one album, explained by Johannes Vester as follows: « Incoming, Inspiration, (...) In X is OM (Odem) that could mean: There is Om/Odem/Atman in the Unknown (X), this also corresponds to "shem" which is in XOM, you know the meaning in the Golem-Myth. Last not least for me it sounds like the electronic attitude in symbiosis with Sand's spirit.... » So it is 5 albums of Sand to be released. Two more albums from Nurse with Wound and Current 93, the people who brought to light this slice of mystery that is Sand and its only album Golem, increase the number of letters and with these two more albums the series becomes INXODEM. .... Today INXOM reveals to us the weird obscure story of the Golem, shaped by a creative avant garde band, that we knew through just one album, which was « just » a little piece of the whole story. Only one thing to do to know the story: have a listen to .... His First Steps – Golem - Desert Navigation - Sylph Ballet – North Atlantic Raven.. and also to Chromanatron by Nurse With Wound and When the May Rain Comes, a reprise of Sand by Current 93. .. .. ..MyGen.. ..Profile Generator.. ......

    Sand
Ne dépendant pas d'un style « Krautrock » classique, Sand fait tout de même partie de ce mouvement de groupes allemands cosmiques/psychédéliques, tout en étant les instigateurs des musiques proto-industrielles.

SAND / bio

Bio:

Sand There is something magical and inexplicable in creation, and Sand manifest absolutely these mysterious phenomena. Story-tellers, musicians, shamans, geniuses, Sand were known, at the end of the 60s, as P.O.T. (Part of Time). Then Sand - Ludwig Papenberg and his brother Ullrich Papenberg, and Johannes Vester, developed a more avant-gardist, proto-industrial, visionary experimental approach, a truly unique entity in the history of music. Not dependant on a classical “Krautrock” style, Sand is nevertheless part of this movement of German cosmic/psychedelic bands, as well as being the originators of proto-industrial musics. Rotorelief releases, from 2010, a series of new albums from Sand as well as a reissue of their obscure and rare album Golem. This series of albums is called INXODEM, the series title having one letter for each album. 5 albums of Sand are to be released: His First Steps – Golem – Desert Navigation – Sylph Ballet – North Atlantic Raven. Chromanatron by Nurse with Wound and When the May Rain Comes, cover versions of Sand by Current 93, complete the series. .. ..
