TIKI OASIS 09 will blossom with island splendor during the FREE opening night festivities next Thursday. The highlight of the evening? Guitarist Davie Allan, the man who provided the music for many a Roger Corman-directed American International Pictures classic. Rev up your hog and come down to the Bali Hai on Shelter Island. The doors open at 6:30.
R.I.P. Willy "Mink" DeVille, the last of the blue-eyed soul singers. I saw him perform at least five times, always a great stage performer. One of his live line-ups featured sax man Steve Douglas of the Wrecking Crew! All of his albums were great, particularly the early years on Capitol and Atlantic. He could grow and shuffle with the best of them but his real niche was the emotionally charged ballad.
Hey there, I hope this cheers everyones world, especially yours... Here are some of the Comic Con talent I photographed turned into my original graphic artwork. A before & after poster, done the hard way by erasing away the background of each person posing in costume. If only all the people in costume at Comic con magically were lined up at my chroma key studio... it would have been easier editing, but might be a little more than I could handle, I do like challenges! May all good things come to you!
Jeremy Morris, so full of that Byrds' jingle--jangle, joins forces with Wendy Bailey for a great evening of pop! It's tonight at 9 at Lestat's, located near the big 'ole blue neon sign in Normal Heights. All Ages!
We're breaking up the work week. Tonight it's Scotland's Trashcan Sinatras at the Casbah in San Diego. Wednesday night, Jeremy Morris and Bart Mendoza hit the intimate stage of Lestat's in Normal Heights for some midsummer power pop....it's all good!
